I just tried to find Barry to hook up after all these years. I worked with him at 3D in 1975-79. We had a lot of good times at work and going to clubs in Georgetown after work. So sad to see this.

My condolences to the family. My sister Coleen was married to Barry back in the early 70's and shortly after their divorce was killed by a drunk driver. I have many pictures of Barry from the 70's and certainly willing to share.

Just recently learned of Barry's passing through a Kensington Terrace mailing. Barry was president for many years taking great pride in caring for the property. He gave many many hours to the task with very little thanks from the community but the deep gratitude of those of us on the board who served with him. May all who mourn be consoled by their memories.
It's 2 months today December 17th that we laid you to rest. You are missed and thought of every day.

Barry had a big heart and was liked and loved buy many. He was a gentleman, kind loving carring peron who always had a big smile for you. Most Sundays you could find him working at the House of Cards where he worked for many years. He would talk with you about any sport topic specially baseball which he loved. He worked for the police force for over thirty years, and once he retired made his child hood dream come true when he purchased his condominium and considered Ocean city his primemary place of residence. Like many people the sunrise and sunset's he enjoyed seeing each day that is why his place was on the bay.

My husband and I were neighbors of Barry at Sandy Lane. Barry and I shared the same love for decorating with Palm Trees. He was a gentle soul and always a friend. Unknowingly, we said our good byes to him at our September meeting. He will be missed. I hope he is out of pain and sitting somewhere under a palm tree staring at God's ocean that he loved so dearly. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

We were very good friends to Barry at Sandy Lane Estates and also my family. Barry was a wonderful person and loved to be around people. Barry came often for dinner and parties. He enjoyed my Portuguese food that's what I told him, I always made a plate for him to take home. Barry would call me early in the morning to talk, he knew I was up. Barry enjoyed himself at our gatherings. We had many laughs together. Our thoughts will always be with Barry at our gatherings. Barry will be deeply missed by us and family. Our sincere condolences to his Family.

Barry was a great guy. I met him when he bought his condo at Sandy Lane/OC. I quickly found out that he spent some of his youngest years growing up in Langley Park - just a couple of minutes from where I grew up. We shared some great stories about Leonies, Ledo's, Jimmy Combers and the Tick Tock. Barry had a great smile and a great laugh. He was a terrific guy to be around - I will miss him.

Steve and Debbie and the rest of the family for Barry Malkin - I was truly saddened to hear of Barry's passing. I first met Barry when I was on the US Park Police and he was a Captain in the 7D. We would occasionally cross paths somewhere at some crime scene or at a convenience store, or wherever. When I moved to the Eastern Shore, I had lost touch with him. About 4 years ago, I was working at the Quay Condominium and he walked in and we both looked at each other and realized that we knew each other. Barry's brother owns a condo in the building. Of course, anyone who works at the Quay knows the story of how I towed Barry's car (not knowing it was his until it was already gone). I then started working at the Rivendell Condo and we rekindled our conversations. He would come and sit in the lobby for a couple of hours and just chew the fat. By this time, I realized that the medical issues that he had were taking it's toll. Barry had a brave front toward all of it and I think he was as prepared as he could be. Barry, I'll miss our talks; both from then and from now. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family; the memories that you all must have shall be cherished

Barry we will miss you. Bill Huggins stopped by tonite and told us about your Service and your family and all the wonderful things about you. We loved all the clothes you gave us when our house burnt down. That was such a thoughtful gift from you. Thank you Barry. I remember back in 1999 when you met us at the Lincoln Memorial the night we celebrated the sale of our internet company. Thanks for the memories and God Bless!!!

My heart and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
I had the great fortun of working with Captain Malkin, in the Mteropolitan Police Department, from 1987 (7th District) 13th and Missippi Avenue, SE, to the 3rd District until his retirement in 2003.
I have many fond memories of him, to include being his lunch bdy at the 3rd District to way back when he would walk through roll call in the old 7D carrying a freshly starched and prssed Sergeants uniform shirt and wearing his famous Hawaiin Shirts!
I also remember one time when he was off duty in Adams Morgan (on a date) when he observed a robbery in progress, gave foot pursuit, apprehended and held the suspect!
He is a great Policeman and a great human being! He will be surely missed!

Barry was a great guy. I met him just a few years ago at the Rivendell Condominiums in Ocean City, MD. He was always visiting the sales team in the models, sharing stories and offering coffee in the morning or lunch in the afternoon. He was always happy and ready to help in any way he could. We had some great laughs and good times at the Rivendell and around Ocean City as well. He was just happy to be living his dream of owning a condo at the beach. He certainly lived every day to the fullest. I will miss him very much.

Most of you knew Barry as a policeman. I knew him as a soul DJ when we worked together at WMUC radio at the University of Maryland. We had great times back then. If there's a rock and roll heaven, Barry will be there spinning the hits.

When Barry was a "rookie" Sgt. (and I was pretty much a rookie myself)I worked for him for a couple of years...Always affable, he took care of his officers and knew the job. He was a good policeman, a good police official and most importantly, a good man!! Very sorry to hear of his passing. My sympathy to the family and friends of Barry.

My sincere condolences to the family and to the many friends of Captain Malkin. Captain Malkin was an awesome Official during my time with MPD. He taught me a great deal. He even helped me study for the Sergeants Exam. He was a wealth of knowledge. He had a great sense of humor. He was missed when he retired from MPD and he will be missed now. May he rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Barry's passing. Easy to feel that he was a true friend. He was a loyal patient of my late husband who was his dentist for many years. Would always look forward to our extended heartfelt chats. Truly a good guy and I know how deeply he'll be missed by his family and closest friends.
