MALACHI BROWN JONES  
Malachi Brown Jones was born in Jacksonville, FL, on October 30, 1940, to the late Theodore E. Jones and Josephine Brown Jones and passed away November 21, 2017. He was a lifelong member of Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. He attended public schools in Jacksonville and graduated from New Stanton High School in 1958 and from Florida A&M University in 1962. He served for 30 years in the Army as an officer in the Medical Service Corp. He earned a Master's Degree in International Relations from Troy State University and a JD Degree from Northern Virginia Law School. He retired from the Army with the rank of Colonel in 1992. He went on to enjoy a successful career as an entrepreneur and business executive based in the Washington, DC, area. He was an active life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He married Hannelore Jones in 1968, and together they raised their two children, Malachi Jr. and Tanya. He was preceded in death by his brothers Rudolph Jones and Joseph Long. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Feeney-Jones; children Tanya A. Jones and Malachi B. Jones Jr. (Abigail); grandchildren Lucas and Carter Jones; brother Theodore J. Jones Jr.; sister Rose Jones Johnson (Earnest Lee); devoted nieces and nephews Ruby Dee Hope (Ted), Roslyn Robinson (Charles), Antwana Hilton, Maurena Dukes, David Triplett, Larry Triplett; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends. Services will be held on Saturday, December 2 at noon at Mt Sinai Missionary Baptist, 2036 Silver St., Pastor R. L. Gundy. Visitation will be held in the mortuary on December 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FAMU Foundation, 625 E. Tennessee St, Suite 100, Tallahassee, FL 32308-4933, https://my.famu.edu/give.
