Philip Tulley Obituary

Mr. Philip C. Tulley Sr. age 84, died at his home April 2, 2013, surrounded by his large and very loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy A. Tulley who passed away April 7, 2008. Mr. Tulley, the son of Thomas and Mary (Collins) Tulley, was born June 16th 1928 in Lawrence, MA. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, and also the McIntosh School of Business. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the pacific during World War II. He was a member of the D.A.V. Mr. Tulley worked for Raytheon Corporation in South Lowell, MA for thirty eight years, retiring in 1991. He then continued a long and distinguished second career as a loving and caring grandfather and great-grandfather. He was proud of them all and their many accomplishments. He provided an endless number of hours doing what he could to make life easier for his children and their families. It was Grandpas taxi service providing rides and pickups all over the place; Sunday dinners where everyone was always invited; and summer vacations at Hampton Beach for one and all. Mr. Tulley enjoyed time with his friends at the Majors Pub on Jackson St. He had been a regular for over 50 years. He liked to play cards and later enjoyed his luck at keno. He especially enjoyed celebrating his Irish heritage on St. Patricks Day. Mr. Tulley is survived by his eleven children; seven daughters and four sons; Joanne Tulley, Mary Campopiano and her partner Ed Ganem, Sue Anderson and her husband Doug, Philip C. Tulley Jr. and his wife Jeanne (Couturier), all of Chelmsford. Patty Ann Tulley of North Reading, Robin McNeil and her husband Bernie, James Tulley and his wife Kristen (Davis), of Lowell, Jos- eph J. Tulley and his wife Janet (Whitcomb) of Dracut, Stephen Tulley and his wife Roberta (McGould- rick) of Arundel, ME, Nancy Desjardins and her husband Peter of Tyngsboro and Martha Leone and her husband Peter of Tewksbury. He is also survived by his 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He also leaves his sister, Elinor Goodwin, of Lawrence, MA, his sister-in-law, Anna Tulley, of Methuen, and his brother|in-law, Gus Fiori, of Lawrence, MA. He is also survived by many cousins and a large number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers John and Raymond Tulley, and his sister Margaret Tulley. Our Dad was a very special man to us. Along with our Mother, they taught us the importance of family and sticking together. The bonds they created between all of us will live on in their memory. Visting hours were held on Friday, April 5 from 4 to 8 at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, April 6 at 11:30 am at St. John the Evangelist Parish, 115 Middlesex St., N. Chelmsford.
