The Hans kids and the Lovas kids always shared a special bond together... I know we all felt / feel it. And although the distances and time seemed so vast, all we had to do was remember.
I remember, Cindy. I remember.

July 7, 2011

Cindy and I shared a friendship for over 45 years. We had moments of laughter that brought us to tears, and moments of tears that brought us to laughter. It is all of those memories that I will cherish until we meet again. To Amanda, Drew, Andy, all of her brothers and sisters, and her entire extended family, I offer my heartfelt sympathy. I will miss her forever and will always remember her in my prayers.

Love,

To Cindy's children and siblings, I can only say that our world is a better place for having known her. To know Cindy was to love her; her virtues were many. As a kind, generous, genuine and gentle woman, she led by example and inspired us all to be better persons, both in family and in career. We will always remember Cindy as a wonderful friend; we can only imagine how special she has been as a sister and a mother.

Our prayers and thoughts are with all of our family in PA today. It is hard to express the sadness we feel, like staring at an empty space next to us where we know someone should be, and yet she is not. Her place is now closer to us, in our hearts. We will miss you, Cindy.

Dear Cindy,
Two favorite memories come to mind: 1965-66 as McD freshmen sitting on your bed listening to your brother, Woody in his bedroom, attempt to sign the Beach Boys "Barbara Ann" over and over and over again.
Fast forward to 2007, you are happily sorting mounds of donated clothing in the back room of Shining Light Thrift Shop on a "free" Saturday.
Your sweet smile and personality will be forever missed.
May you rest in peace,
Sue Lewis Shebosky

To the family of Cindy Smyser: My
deepest sympathies. I knew Cindy from
the old Shapp Administration when she worked in the Governor's Press Office. I saw her later on many occasions when she became the Manager
of the Governor's Residence. I last saw her in October 2009 when Mrs. Rendell honored Pennsylvania Distinguished Daughters at a luncheon.
Cindy came out to meet me and say hello. It was nice to see her there.
I was shocked when I saw that she had passed away yesterday. Family stay strong and know that you had a wonderful family member.

To those who were blessed to have Cindy as a mother, wife, sister, or friend, part of her will always be with you. People like Cindy don't just pass through your life, they leave an imprint on you. She was a free spirit with both determination and intelligence. I admired her for that. If only everyone could be a little more like Cindy.

Dear Andy and family: My wife, Polly, and I worked with Ed Hans at Sears in the late 50's and during the early 60's. We were friends with both Alice and Ed but never had to much association with the children as we move from Harrisburg in 65. We stayed in touch with Alice and Ed, visited with them when they moved to Messa, AZ and saw Alice last at Bethany Village. A great family and please know that our thoughts and prayers are with Cindy, you, your children, her brothers and her sisters. Our sympathies to all. Polly and Dick Anglin

Cindy had a huge heart that enveloped everyone around her, especially children and animals. My fondest memory was watching her play with my son in the garden. They became best friends instantly dipping their toes in the sprinklers and sitting with the peacocks. Her strength and love and perseverance will accompany all who she touched in life.

June 22, 2011

My heart goes out to Cindy's family and all who knew her. You could not work with or know Cindy without having your heart touched by her. Her talent and dedication were evident in everything she did.

For many years, my staff and I worked with Cindy at the Residence and experienced the joy she brought to every occasion. I know that wherever Cindy is, she is well-loved and already making that residence a better place.
