Clive Cussler (1931–2020), best-selling adventure author
Clive Cussler was a best-selling adventure author known for his series of thrillers starring Dirk Pitt, an underwater explorer and playboy who battles evil villains. One of Cussler's novels, “Sahara,” was turned into a movie starring Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz. More than 100 million copies of his books have sold over the past 50 years, including both fiction and nonfiction. Cussler also became an underwater explorer in real life, leading expeditions that discovered many shipwrecks including the Confederate’s Civil War ship Manassas, that sunk in the Mississippi River in 1862.

Wes Wilson (1937–2020), leading 1960s rock concert poster artist
Wes Wilson was a pioneering rock concert poster artist who created posters for leading 1960s San Francisco psychedelic rock bands including the Grateful Dead and the Jefferson Airplane. He created a recognizable concert poster style with a psychedelic font that made it appear as if the letters were moving. Based in San Francisco during the flower power movement, he designed posters for Bill Graham’s famous Fillmore and for many local bands such as the Quicksilver Messenger Service. Wilson designed the poster for the Beatles' final concert held at Candlestick Park on August 29, 1966.

Roky Erickson (1947–2019), pioneering psychedelic rocker
Roky Erickson was a pioneering psychedelic rocker who founded the Texas band the 13th Floor Elevators as a teenager. The band had a regional hit song in the Southwest in 1966, “You’re Gonna Miss Me,” which made the lower levels of the national charts. Their debut album, The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators, is a highly influential psychedelic garage rock masterpiece featuring Erickson’s vocal wailing. Erickson struggled with mental illness and spent some time in a mental hospital after an arrest for marijuana possession. He recovered enough later in life to release a couple of albums and perform live with various backing bands, reuniting for a show with the 13th Floor Elevators in 2015.

Jan-Michael Vincent (1945–2019), “Airwolf” star
Jan-Michael Vincent was a Hollywood heartthrob in the 1970s and '80s. He starred on the CBS action series “Airwolf,” playing helicopter pilot Stringfellow Hawke from 1984 until 1987. Vincent had memorable character roles in “The Mechanic” (1972), as a fellow stunt driver to Burt Reynolds in 1978’s “Hooper,” and the 1978 surf cult classic "Big Wednesday." One of his first starring roles was in Disney’s 1973 movie, “The World’s Greatest Athlete.” He struggled with drug and alcohol problems that contributed to a career downfall after “Airwolf.”

Kristoff St. John (1966–2019), "Young and the Restless" star
Kristoff St. John was a star of TV's “The Young and the Restless,” portraying Neil Winters from 1991 to 2019. His performance on the popular soap opera earned him two Daytime Emmy Awards and ten NAACP Image Awards. Prior to his success on “The Young and the Restless,” St. John was a cast member of the short-lived “Generations,” the first soap opera to center on a Black family. Other notable appearances included “Roots: The Next Generations,” “Happy Days,” and “The Cosby Show.”
