This new Netflix short shows how parents grieve after a tragedy

A new animated short on Netflix, “If Anything Happens I Love You,” explores a couple’s grief and resilience after their child was killed in a school shooting.

Hailed by critics and peers as the best female jazz singer of all time, she had great technique as well as the ability to convey the perfect emotion for each song in her repertoire. Jackie Robinson changed baseball when he stepped onto the field on April 15, 1947 for the Brooklyn Dodgers. The first Black player in the major leagues since the 1880s, he was under tremendous pressure to succeed—and succeed he did. His talent and ability as a ballplayer was undeniable and he maintained his composure in the face of racist taunts both on field and off. Before the end of the 1947, other African Americans would join him in the big leagues, including fellow future Hall of Famer Larry Doby.

As her husband's partner and most trusted confidant, she supported his ceaseless work to try to end racial discrimination in the United States, and then carried forward his legacy upon his assassination in 1968. She spent the following decades speaking out for civil rights herself—for African Americans, and also for women and LGBT people, as well as for the oppressed Black citizens of apartheid-era South Africa.
