Bruce Kennedy Obituary

Bruce Cameron Kennedy, 76, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025. Born on January 12, 1949, in Troy, New York, Bruce lived a life rich in creativity, humor, and deep human connection. Known to many as the life of the party, Bruce had an unmistakable spark-an infectious energy that could light up any room and bring people together with laughter and warmth. Professionally, Bruce spent many successful years as a brilliant creative director in the entertainment industry. His visionary work, artistic intuition, and ability to bring stories to life left a lasting mark on those he collaborated with and the audiences who experienced his creations. In retirement, Bruce poured his heart into painting and sculpture, remaining as passionate and skilled an artist as ever. His creative spirit never waned, and he continued to explore and express beauty through his hands and imagination. At the center of Bruce's world was the love of his life and devoted partner, Carmen Ramos-Kennedy. Their relationship was a true and joyful partnership, built on mutual love, laughter, and support. He was a proud and loving father to his daughters Shaun Kennedy and Shibon Kennedy, and shared a deep and special bond with his "bonus Asheville daughter," Beverly Switzer. Bruce also had a warm and meaningful relationship with Shaun's husband, David Martinez, whom he loved as a son. Bruce is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Kennedy and Gail Bisio, as well as their husbands and children. He had a fond and caring relationship with his nieces and nephews, and always made an effort to stay connected with them throughout his life. More than his accomplishments, Bruce will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the deep friendships he nurtured over a lifetime. He had a unique gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved. Bruce's vibrant presence, artistic legacy, and warm soul will be missed profoundly by all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held in Asheville at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bruce's memory to a local arts organization or charity of your choice. Donations may also be made in his name to BeLoved Asheville, a cause close to his heart. I'm just devastated to hear of Bruce's passing. He was so extraordinary in every single thing in which he invested his time. Learning to play the piano in his 40s. Becoming a pilot and owning his own plane. And numerous evolutions of his talents in business and pleasure. The many trips I took with him in his airplane to fishing spots in the Sierras, are memories I will always treasure.
