Delores Knopp Obituary

Delores Ann Knopp of Anthem/Scottsdale AZ and Toledo Ohio passed away at home with family on March 23, 2025. Delores was born September 09, 1935 in Toledo Ohio. She was one of five children born to Melford and Elizabeth Bradley. Delores graduated from Woodward High in 1954 and attended the University of Toledo. Delores married her high school sweetheart Dean Edward Knopp. After Dean enlisted in the Army in 1956 and upon completing his basic training, Delores married the love of her life, Dean Knopp. Dean was deployed to Bamberg, Germany where Delores and Dean lived off base until returning to the United States in 1958 with a 1 year old son, Dean Jr. The couple had two more children Elizabeth and James while making their home in Toledo. According to Delores's children & spouse, Delores, was the best wife & mother ever to live. Delores was one of those people who was always happy & positive no matter what. Anyone who met Delores, fell in love with her, & her kindness, care, & sincere generosity she showed not only to her family, loved ones, & friends, but to anyone in need. Few people knew Delores was a multi talented lady, a very impressive poet, award winning photographer, avid ice skater, snow skier, piano player, horse back rider, nature hiker, & she mastered the art of Calligraphy to perfection. After Delores raised her children and she and Dean moved west to AZ & opened multiple very successful Dry Cleaners, the customers loved her dearly. Delores had endless energy too, working to the age of 81. She decided by then it was time to slow down a bit & enjoy the pool, her friends, & family more. Delores devoted her entire life to the happiness & well being of her family. Her favorite was cooking, baking & making sure her family was well cared for. Her favorite was to make a homemade meal & have all family & friends get together to enjoy her meal, relax & visit. Delores was an extraordinary cook and baker. People always told her she should open a restaurant or a pie shop. Delores's pies had a national reputation for being the best pie's ever! Delores was a perfectionist at everything she did. Most of all she was the very best anyone could wish for in a friend, wife, & mother. Delores had a heart of gold, & was such a beautiful woman. Delores could uplift anyone's spirits, and always offered the perfect advice, when asked. Teaching her children life long valuable lessons. Most importantly, to always take the high road. We are so proud and grateful to have had such a loving, caring, supportive mother growing up. This love, care & support never wavered or ceased, until sorrowfully she passed. Our beloved mother was always there for us no matter what! Teaching us proper social graces, manners, & etiquette, which are so important to get by in this world, always setting a perfect example, being the true Lady she always was, in every sense of the word. Delores being the perfect mother, wife, & friend made so many treasured memories for us to cherish & hold close to our hearts where she now resides. We love you mom forever and ever with all our hearts. May you rest in peace until we are all reunited in Gods Kingdom. Delores and my sister Gerri Smith were close friends from the North End of Toledo. They attended Woodward together and Delores was in my sister's 1st wedding. I still have the pics from that. What a sweetheart. Always enjoyed her when she came by our house. She was such a wonderful person. I got to talk to her in her later years just before and after Dean's passing. Dean was a friend of my brother-in-law, Jim Day. I was able to locate a Saga (Yearbook) that belonged to Delores and sent it to her. I knew it made her very happy. She will be missed but now resides in a better place awaiting loved ones. I hope to see her again in the promised world we all desire.
