Mark Carter Obituary

Late Wednesday April 23, 2025 Mark Steven Carter left family and friends behind. Born February 18th, 1952 in Phoenix Arizona to Lucille and Charles E. Carter, he was the third of the four Carter boys.
Mark is survived by his son Patrick N.Carter, his former wife Luanne (Espil) Robertson and his loving companion Christine Larkin, with whom he shared the last twenty five years. He is also survived by his three brothers, Charles E. Carter Jr. (Yvonne), Michael J. Carter (Leighann) and James M. Carter (Kathleen) as well as his four nephews Matt (Elisha), Jack (Chelsea), Joe (Felicia) Carter, Elliott Sloan-Carter (Kenya) and their families whom he loved dearly.
A proud Arizona native, Mark attended Madison Rose Lane Elementary School and Central High School in Phoenix where he excelled at sports, lettered in wrestling and built the foundations of many enduring and treasured friendships.
In keeping with family tradition, after high school Mark served in the U.S. Military. After returning from Thailand, he married into an Arizona sheep ranching family. He enjoyed the outdoor life and expanding friendships as he spent time between Litchfield Park and the ranch outside Flagstaff. After the ranch was sold, Mark worked as a private investigator in Arizona before relocating his young family to Northern California where he enjoyed a successful career as a sales engineer at Bay Pneumatic.
In 1998, Mark, Luanne and Patrick returned to Phoenix to be closer to family. Mark remained in the Valley for the following 27 years, where he honed his lifelong love of photography, cooking, grilling & BBQ skills. Mark especially enjoyed the summers he spent in Pinetop, Arizona where he enjoyed fly fishing at his, "Double Secret Fishing Hole", hiking and exploring the beautiful White Mountains with Christy and their dogs.
With his quick wit and sense of humor, Mark never felt the need to be the most important person in the room; partly, because he knew he was always one of the the best dressed. He was always quick to lend a hand, quick to step up for family and friends and occasionally quick tempered when he thought the situation called for it.
Loved his family, loved his friends -Truly a humble, kind & brave man.
The family plans a private graveside service. Then later in the fall, there will be a celebration of Mark's life with his many friends.
