Robert Combs Obituary
Robert "Bob" Combs, a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away on April 28th, 2025, at the age of 69. Born in Lubbock, Texas, on April 21, 1956, Bob was the youngest of three children of Charlie and Libby Combs.
Bob spent his early years in Dallas, where he attended San Jacinto Elementary School and cherished the friendships, he formed both in his neighborhood and at church. In 1965, the family relocated to Tempe, Arizona, where Bob continued his education at Gililland Elementary, McKemy Junior High, and Tempe High School, graduating in 1974. He was a proud member of the Tempe Buffaloes basketball team for all four years of high school, where he formed more lifelong friendships.
Bob's athletic talent earned him a basketball scholarship to Yavapai Community College in Prescott, Arizona. He went on to study at Arizona State University and Colorado State University, where he also played basketball, before returning to ASU to complete a bachelor's degree in finance. Following his college years, Bob played semi-professional basketball in Switzerland, embracing the opportunity to experience life abroad through the sport he loved.
Bob began his career with EF Hutton, then transitioned into telecommunications with MCI. He later worked in cable installation in Las Vegas, moved to Glendale, Utah, where he worked with Chambers Belt Company and then Resistol Stetson Hats, and eventually returned to Las Vegas to work for Rapport Leadership International. Bob achieved his lifelong dream of owning his own business "Aligned Purpose" where he left a legacy of professional integrity and leadership.
Bob met Martie, the love of his life in Wyoming and they were later married in South Dakota in 2002, making him the proud dad to Sara and Andrew. While Bob loved The Black Hills, the family relocated to Phoenix in 2008 to be closer to Bob's mother.
Bob was the epitome of a mountain man and was a "wolf whisperer" and dog lover. He enjoyed gardening, landscaping, camping, swimming in the pool with his family and dogs and any activity that he could do outdoors. He was larger than life and was loved and adored by his family and friends. His genuine kindness, caring nature, quick humor, and passion are already missed. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend-but above all, he would say the most important thing about him was that he was a Christian man.
Bob is survived by his wife of 22 years Martie, their daughter Sara and son Andrew (Josh) of Phoenix, brother Ed (Loren) Combs of Phoenix, niece Cristin (Jason) of Florida and nephew and niece Taylor and Aubrey, cousins and numerous friends.
Bob is proceeded in death by his parents Charlie and Libby, and sister Cathy Hunsaker.
A celebration of Bob's Life will be Saturday, May 10th at 10:00 a.m. Valley Presbyterian Church 6947 E McDonald Dr, Paradise Valley, AZ 85253. A luncheon will follow. People are welcome to wear Maroon and or Gold or both.
