I was saddened to hear about my former teammate's passing after a friend forwarded me this. The last time I saw Marty was the end of our 1980 American Legion baseball season. I got to know Marty for just 2 months and everything that was mentioned in his obituary is exactly what I remembered about him. He was a big reason for us being state runner-up that year, but I think of him as the glue to our team. He kept everyone loose, such a hustler and incredible athlete. Over the years, all I could say when his name was brought up was that I loved that guy. My prayer is for his family. Such a wonderful person.
