Peter Ortiz Obituary

Peter "Pete" Ortiz

Peter "Pete" Ortiz, 78, went to meet his beloved Lord on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, peacefully in his backyard.

He is survived by his wife Linda Harrison Ortiz; mother Ramona Ortiz; two daughters: Carol-Lynn Harvey, Jacquelynn Salazar (Joey); grandchildren: Jocelynn Scott, Jenaya Salazar, Kyle Harvey, Kaitlynn Harvey; great-grandchildren: Jade, Peyton, Lily, and Levi.

Pete was born on July 19, 1946 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He attended Valley High School, where he met the love of his life, Linda. Pete was then drafted after graduation and served in the United States Army, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, was a heavy-duty truck driver and a rifle marksman. He went on to work as a facilities engineering technician and retired from Qwest. He was hard working, a dedicated parishioner of St. Therese and enjoyed sharing meals with his wife and friends at Albuquerque Restaurants. He had many interests and hobbies such as enjoying the outdoors boating and camping, restoring his three classic cars, entering them in shows, riding his Harley Davidson, photography, drawing, and doing projects on and around the house.

Above all, Pete was a devoted family man, his 56-year marriage was a beacon of love and commitment, and his family was the light of his life.

Pete's Life Celebration will begin with a Rosary on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 5:30pm at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church located at 3424 4th St. NW, 87107. Mass will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 9:00am also at Shrine of the Little Flower St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. Pete will be laid to rest at 10:30am at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery located at 924 Menaul Blvd NE, 87107.

Pallbearers: Joey Salazar, Kyle Harvey, Alan Scott, Paul Lopez, Joshua Medisch, and Donald Harrison.
