Shellie Taylor Obituary

Shellie J. Taylor

Shellie Jo (Gribble) Taylor, age 45, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Born to proud parents Larry and Dixie Gribble, her sisters Vickie and Stephanie welcomed identical twin girls on Monday, September 29, 1975, in Albuquerque, NM at downtown Presbyterian Hospital. Shellie was 3 minutes older than her twin, Sherrie.

Shellie is preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Neal Rozell, her father, Larry Gribble, and paternal grandparents and uncles.

She is survived by her sons, Ryan Edward Taylor, age 23, Neal Murray Taylor, age 21, and John Wesley Taylor, age 17. Her strong and valiant sons, whose births gave her the rich and fulfilling purpose that she'd always dreamed of, filled her heart with love, and brought her pure happiness. She loved volunteering in their classrooms, watching them play football through high school's end, guiding their steps into adulthood, and she fiercely protected their hearts.

Also surviving are her grandmother, LaTrelle (Nanny) Rozell; mother, Dixie (Rozell) Gribble; sisters, Vickie (Ted) Humphrey, Stephanie (James) Montessi, and Sherrie Poyer. Grieving her loss is her cousin raised as a sister, Dana (Paul) Baxley, and her closest confidantes, Thomas Poyer and Lillian Gutierrez, who offered her endless love and support.

She was delighted by her nieces and nephews, Leah (Jared) Baca, Sarah Humphrey, and Mark Montessi, and her "4th son", Tobias Poyer. She loved cuddling her great-nieces, Paislee, Delaney, baby-on-the-way, and her great-nephew, Bodi Baca. Other beloved family members surviving are her aunts, Joyce (Bobby) Brockman, Jerilou Warrick, and Julie Gribble; and cousins, Laurie (Gary) Smothermon, Christy (Monic) Peralta, and Don Gribble.

Raised in the North Valley, Shellie graduated in 1994 from Valley High School, attended the University of New Mexico on a Presidential scholarship, and achieved dental hygiene assistant and x-ray technician certifications. She was able to stay at home and raise her sons for many years but had worked proudly for Presbyterian Healthcare Services for the last several years. She'd grown professionally and was most recently enjoying work as an Epic-certified Instructional Designer.

Shellie believed and relied on faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, all the days of her life. She posted notes to herself of scriptures to sustain her faith around her home. She had a heart sparkling with love. She naturally encouraged others and brought great joy to all she encountered. Childhood soloist, pianist, musical theater actress, and drum major, Shellie always had a song in her heart and on her mind. At home, she could be heard humming or singing a familiar tune. She loved creating handcrafted, artistic gifts for loved ones, mailing cute notes to spread happiness through the mail, and delivered homecooked meals to her family during COVID-19. Prior to COVID-19, Shellie freely offered hugs to friends, family and colleagues. She had a gift for lifting the spirits of those around her. Shellie will likely be remembered by her bright smile, love of lipsticks, and flirtatious eyelashes.

Shellie's cremation is being handled by Daniel's Funeral Service at 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE; a memorial to celebrate her life will be open to all via live streaming on Vimeo on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Create a login account and go to //www.vimeo.com/499441150/f886fc6a7b to participate in the memorial live or view later at your convenience.

Shellie was a sparkling unicorn among us and now is a sparkling angel in heaven. So loving, caring and thoughtful. I am in shock. Shellie will always be remembered for bringing a wonderful light into the world by making others feel happy with her smile. My dad always said she was the nicest person he ever met, and I totally agree. You will be missed my dear friend. God had to take you in his arms to give you all the happiness and love you deserve.

❤We have all been so very heart broken in regards to Shellie's sudden passing. Shellie was an Amazing Mother, Sister-inlaw, and Aunt, and was loved so very much by each & every one of us in the Taylor family. She was so full of talent, creativity & she always took such pride in being a Mother. She was a great example of that to all, and is leaving behind a great legacy for those wonderful nephews of mine, as well as to all the other lives she has blessed with her beautiful presence! Although we will miss her dearly, I know that our Sweet Lord Jesus is cradling her in His strong & loving arms at this very moment❤.

The world became colder without the sunbeam that Shellie was shining in it. She will be missed but leaves a huge and loving legacy.
