Steve was a diligent student who went on to voluntarily help with my Grand Canyon research along with fellow classmate Rich Kilbury on the Colorado Plateau. Sorry to hear we have lost another bright light from our geology program.

Steve was one of my best friends from our time at college in Geneseo, NY. He put me up for a month when I was hitchhiking in 1983, and we spent countless hours on the phone discussing so many topics.
He was a deep, compassionate and creative soul. I´m proud that he called me a friend.

I worked with Steve at SLD for many years. I am saddened by his passing. He was an excellent laboratorian and a calm, considerate co-worker. He was also interesting to talk with about nearly any subject. He was a sweet man, my condolences to his family and friends.

Steve was a great friend, a kind and considerate man, a talented writer who faced his mortality with quiet dignity and courage and never as a burden to anyone else. He will be missed. May God grant him peace and strength to the dear ones he left behind.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have known Steve for 25 + years. I helped keep that big smile healthy. He always spoke so highly of his family. I will miss our visits.
