Susan Mills Obituary

Susan Vivian Mills

Susan Vivian Mills was born on June 15, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri. She passed peacefully at home following a lengthy illness on January 6, 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As the daughter of a U.S Government attorney, John B. and Mary B. Pew, she spent many of her younger years all across the world. She attended school in various countries such as Afghanistan, India, and Italy. Her love for travel followed into her retirement where she and her beloved husband, Neal, spent years traveling the country in their motor home. Neal and Susy built a wonderful life together as business owners across the southwestern United States. Their store "Mills Bros. Jewelers and Flowers To Go" had a home in many places including: Lake Havasu City, AZ; Colorado Springs, CO; Montrose, CO; and Los Alamos, NM. While Neal was the talented jeweler, Susy was the backbone of the business and creative florist. The couple were so adored and looked up to by their children, Amy and Scott, that they joined them in the family business. Beyond her love for flowers and her many artistic abilities, she especially enjoyed dancing with Neal, playing games, story telling, and cooking. Above all else, she loved nothing more in life than spending quality time with her dear family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Neal C. Mills, daughter and caretaker for years Amy E. Hogan & husband Terry P., sister Judith P. Browne, brother Brooks Pew, grandchildren Jennifer Patterson, Sarah Trujillo & husband Marcus, Ryan Mills & wife Nikki, and LeeAnn Hogan, great-grandchildren Maddison Nichols and Eilis Hogan, along with niece Nancy Kale, nephews Brooks Browne and Jeremey Pew, and a large group of equally cherished extended family. She is preceded in death by her only son Neal Scott Mills, with whom she is now reunited. She treated everyone who knew her like family, and just as she leaves many loved ones behind, she is now joining many as well. Services for Susan will be held at the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque on Saturday January 12, 2019 at two o'clock in the afternoon, with celebration to follow. All who knew her are welcome. St. Andrew Presbyterian Church 5301 Ponderosa Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110.

I can not begin to say how much of a wonderful and positive influenance Susy had on my life. She was like a big sister I never had. She and Neal help guide me through some of my most challenging chapters of my life. I am a better, stronger and happier person today, thanks to Susy. I will never forget the many thoughts and wisdom she shared with me...
One of them was--to be truly happy all you need is these three ingredients "some thing to look forward to, something to do, someone to love. Love You Susy!
