Dr. Adam Perry Obituary

February 10, 1975 - March 18, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers. Visitation will be held at Delhomme Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Very Rev. Chester Arceneaux V.F., Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will officiate the funeral services. Adam Thomas Perry was born on February 10, 1975 to Catherine Bush Perry and Ronald E. Perry, Sr. in Metairie, Louisiana. Adam graduated from Covington High School in 1993 as an All-State Prep football player and began his career in Baton Rouge as an LSU Tiger. Adam started every game at left guard as a junior and senior in 1996 and 1997. He helped LSU reach a 10-2 record and win the 1996 Peach Bowl. Adam's on-field accomplishments included the Eric Andolsek Award for performance in Spring practice and being named a Permanent Team Captain in 1997. Off the field, Adam was a 1996 Academic All American and was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll from 1994-1997. LSU Football recognized Adam for his true character when he received the Butch Duhe Award in 1997; an honor given to the LSU Football player who most personifies the ideals of unselfishness, dependability, and commitment. Adam graduated from medical school at LSU Health Science Center in Shreveport and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at LSU Health Science Center in New Orleans based out of Charity Hospital. Dr. Perry was literally and figuratively a giant in the program, mentoring and encouraging junior residents and medical students. Dr. Perry travelled to San Antonio to complete a fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine under the renowned Dr. Jesse C. DeLee, who considered Adam "the best Fellow he ever had", before finally landing in Lafayette. As a newcomer to the Lafayette medical community, Dr. Perry had a new vision for Orthopaedic medicine in Acadiana. He founded Louisiana Orthopaedic Specialists as a solo surgeon in 2008 and helped build LOS to sixteen physicians and surgeons, over 200 employees, and multiple locations providing the citizens of Acadiana with sub-specialized orthopaedic care. Dr. Perry was a visionary and his legacy at LOS will live on. Patients adored the larger-than-life Dr. Perry with his beaming smile, booming voice, and ability to put them at ease. Dr. Perry was compassionate and caring; he was a dedicated surgeon and healer. While at LSU, Adam met the love of his life, Heidi Hargett Perry. After sneaking in at midnight, he proposed on the Eye of the Tiger in "Death Valley" and Adam & Heidi were happily married for 26 years. When Adam wasn't working, he was alongside Heidi, listening to music, enjoying good food, and spending time with friends. He loved spending time at his camp fishing and "LIVIN' DULARGE". He also loved hunting with his boys from Texas to Mexico. Adam and Heidi have three sons that Adam adored: Thomas, Gresham, and Drake. Adam was a devoted husband and father who supported the boys in all their activities and sports. He was a spirited and enthusiastic cheerleader. Adam volunteered as the Head of Sports Medicine for Teurlings Catholic High School to be closer to his boys - he never missed a Friday night on the sidelines. Dr. Perry touched many lives across Acadiana as a physician and surgeon, volunteer, business leader, practice partner, friend, father and husband. Gone far too soon, Adam will be greatly missed. Dr. Perry leaves behind his wife Heidi and his sons Thomas, Gresham, and Drake; his brother S. Christian "ZUKE" (Mindy) Perry; his mother-in-law Yvette Bonin Hargett (Ronald) Judice; his sister Faith (Jason) Bourgoyne; and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Hargett Patridge; and many nieces and nephews. Dr. Perry was preceded in death by his parents, Catherine "Cay" Bush Perry and Ronald E. Perry, Sr.; and his brother Ronald E. Perry, Jr; his father-in-law Daniel N. Hargett, Sr.; and brothers-in-law Daniel Neil Hargett, Jr., and Steve Patridge. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial and honoraria giving to Teurlings Catholic High School Football. Please contact Coach Sonny Charpentier, Teurlings Athletic Director, for more information: (337) 235-5711 ext. 208

Hey Doc, it's one of your favorite and most frequent patients, Charlie. Well I held out as long as I could for my knee replacement, now it's time and you aren't available to pick on me while you fix me up again. Gonna miss you buddy, but I will say a prayer for your family.

The best surgeon I knew. Knew him from working at OLOL and also as his patient. His passing was a shock and a tragedy. He is very much missed.

I just learned of Dr. Perry´s death and am just devastated. He replaced my knee several years ago, and did a wonderful job. I had virtually no pain. What a loss to his family and patients.

I just heard of Dr. Perry's passing and I am in total disbelief. When I first met Dr Perry, I felt quite intimidated by his size. And then he started talking to me, and I immediately knew what an amazing man and doctor he was! I guess I was thinking the Gentle Giant! To his wife and children, please know what an impact your husband and father has had on so many people! Although not compared to the loss that y'all have suffered, it is a true loss to so many others! Be proud of him as I'm sure you are! And know how loved he was!

I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Perry as my surgeon for a total knee replacement to both knees. I could not and have not met a better doctor with an awesome bedside manner. He will definitely be missed. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
