Mildred Doucet Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at (time pending) on Monday, March 15, 2021, in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Mildred Lantier Doucet, 91, who passed away on March 12, 2021. Reverend Thomas Voorhies will serve as Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Burial will take place in Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum. Mildred was a pioneer in Scott, opening one of the first grocery stores, Lantier's Grocery, which later became Early's Food Store in Scott. She enjoyed gardening, camping, cooking and casino trips. She enjoyed vacationing with her grandkids and was known as "Ma" to everyone. Daily visits from friends and family, her grand- and great-grandkids were her most favorite pastimes, especially lunch dates and treats from Myles and Callie. Mildred was a member of the Judice VFW, Post 9822, CFMA, Good Sam Camping Club, and the Sts. Peter and Paul Ladies Altar Society. Mildred, a resident of Scott, was the daughter of the late Rene Sonnier and the former Eloge Broussard. She is survived by her three girls, Judy Menard and her husband, Donald, Karen Hebert and her companion, Horace Romero, and Jan Lantier-Verrette and her husband, John; grandchildren, Jami (Dwayne) Martel, Amanda (Eric) Waltner, Donovan Menard, Jessie (Ryan) Judice, Shelby (Blaine) Menard, Katie (Erick) Kidder, and Lacie (Travis) Mire; great- grandchildren, Bryce (Felicia) Martel, Myles Martel (Callie Maitre), Grayson, Avery, Evan Waltner, Dominic Menard, Spencer and Kaitlin Judice, Bently and Archer Menard, Jackson and Annie Kidder, Landon Prejean (Alexis Vincent), and Carver Mire; great-great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Calvin Martel, Huxtyn Prejean and baby, Hayes Prejean; one brother, Dalton (Merline) Sonnier; one sister-in-law, Flo Sonnier; and the Doucet Family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Early Lantier; her husband of 18 years, Joseph Doucet; her siblings, Melba Guidry, Roy Sonnier, and Irene Baudoin; one granddaughter, Kim Menard and one son-in- law, Wayne Hebert. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Delhomme Funeral Home - Scott on Sunday, March 14, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Sunday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will resume on Monday from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Pallbearers will be Donovan Menard, Travis Mire, Erick Kidder, Bryce Martel, Myles Martel, Landon Prejean, Grayson Waltner, and Spencer Judice. The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice, especially Vicky and Rhonda, as well as Linda and Fran.
