Adam Malaby Obituary

Adam Cole Malaby, 30, passed away on April 16, 2016. Adam was born on Aug. 5, 1985, in California. He moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1996. Adam was a member of the United States Military serving in Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom, as a part of the B Co. 1-143rd INF ABN. Adam was kind and thoughtful. He had a charitable heart and a wicked sense of humor. His laugh was contagious, his smile would make your day and his dimples would melt your heart. Adam loved life. He cherished his mom and dad, his sister, brother-in-law and nephews, his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and those he considered family. If you were part of Adam's life, he was all in. Adam treasured the outdoors and held dear his family that he spent that time with. Adam revered the flag and the freedom it represents. The only thing he loved more was being a soldier and defending those freedoms with honor and integrity. Adam loved his fellow veterans and supported veterans' causes. Adam is survived by his parents, Michelle and Billy Mitchell of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Jami with her husband Bryan Houser and their sons Jayden, Nixon, and a soon to be born baby boy coming in June, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandparents, Janice and Paul Cole of Yreka, Calif.; aunt, Kimberly with husband Mark Tish of Bakersfield, Calif.; aunt, Lorie Haskins of Anchorage, Alaska; aunt, Carla Martin of Bushnell, Ill.; along with numerous cousins. Adam is preceded in death by his grandfather, Ray Haskins; and uncle, Shane Haskins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016, from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E Street, Anchorage, AK 99501. A reception will immediately follow the service at the VFW 10252, 3105 Mountain View Drive, Anchorage, AK 99501. Arrangements were with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

Adam lived with my cousin for years. He was his best friend. I saw him just about every time I came to visit and he always sat down and chatted with me, the last time was for an hour while we watched Blast from the Past. Such a pure heart. It's sad to think he won't be there when I come over anymore. At least he can rest easy now. RIP Adam <3

I served with Adam in Afghan and will always remember talking to him about home and everything we liked to do while we were there. I loved his sense of humor and hearing him laugh.
I am saddened by his loss, but grateful to have known such a great man and outstanding soldier.

'Til Valhalla, brother.
