So sorry for your loss. I too grew up with Gary in Fairbanks. I remember his infectious smile he always seemed to be wearing. He had a passion for life that I really admired.

Words are such a poor substitute when talking about the loss of Gary to the Dixon family. I knew Gary from the early to middle 1960's. We played baseball against and with each other. That was at a time when he and another great pitcher, Phil Blackwell, dominated the pitching mound in the Fairbanks youth baseball leagues. Gary was just not good in baseball though, he was also very good in several other sports. Gary had that infectious smile and great sense of humor that helped set him apart. The last time that I actually saw and talked to Gary was in August of 1965, but I can still remember it like yesterday. I can see why he did so well in working with and helping other people with the Teamsters. He helped improve a lot of people's lives. I can also tell that he made many friends down the path of life and that he will be missed. Please accept our deepest sympathy and prayers for his family.

Gary worked with my father at the Teamsters and I came to know him over the years as a man with a great sense of humor, ferocious work ethic and a sense of humility that was refreshing. He was the kind of man that our country needs more of , the kind of man that we are not producing as many of as we once did. He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace my friend, I hope to see you somewhere down the road. Sincerely, Ray Atwood

The Sampson family wishes to extend our most sincerest condolences to Gary Dixon Jr. and the Dixon family. Gary and I became good friends during the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and years thereafter. I watched him over the years work hard representing workers in Alaska and around the country. He did alot to improve working conditions for everyone and he will be missed and remembered for his many contributions. Our prayers are with his family during this most difficult time.

I have fond memories of playing baseball
with Gary and Don for the old Fairbanks 49ers team in the mid sixties. My last contact with him was
playing tennis with him at Teamster's Sports Facility in Achorage. Gary was a good friend.
My sincere condolences to his family

Your loss is heart felt. Indeed, Gary was a friendly pleasent person to know. He and I go back to the early seventies, when he was working for Teamsters Local 959. He and my father were business agents together. Although our encounters were long ago and occasional, he was always a joy and an interesting person. I admired your loved one and send blessings.

Sorry about your father's passing. As a kid in Fairbanks I remember spending many weekends at his home. Later on as members of Local 959 I respected all he did on behalf of the union. A good friend, Jim Swenson (Coeur d'Alene ID)
