Jerri Rodenbaugh Obituary

Jerri Ann Rodenbaugh, 62, died on Oct. 28, 2014, at home in Anchorage, Alaska, after a heroic struggle with kidney cancer. A Visitation will be on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at Anchorage Lutheran Church, located at 1420 N Street, Anchorage, Alaska, from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and a service will follow, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Reverend Andy will officiate. Pallbearers for Jerri will be: her husband William, Kirk Stickley, Jason Hinton, Ty Mitchell and Juan Garcia. Jerri was born on Feb. 19, 1952, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Jerri was educated through the 10th grade and graduated from the school of life with honors. Jerri came to Alaska with her family in 1973. They resided for a short time in Valdez, then Anchorage for 18 years, Chickaloon for five years and back to Anchorage for 19 years. Jerri worked at Carrs Gottstein and retired to become a full time housekeeper. Jerri returned to work at the Alaskan Whaler as the volunteer head bar tender and worked as volunteer at Bootstraps of Alaska. Jerri's hobbies were gardening, photography and she loved garage sailing. "Jerri Ann was truly the wind beneath my wings and, in the forty plus years we enjoyed each other, we never went to sleep at night without laughing about any disagreement we had during the day. Jerri was truly God's gift to me and our family. In the darkest of times she would always brighten our day. I never had one regret and will miss her to the end of time. Godspeed my love, " her husband Bill wrote. "Jeri was not just my mother, she was my best friend. If I had a problem, Mom would either fix it of give me enough insight to fix it myself. Mom was often a second mother to many people. In general, she was a person who gave her precious love freely and found it returned more often than not. I will miss my mother the rest of my life, or longer," wrote her daughter Shelly. "We will always miss and love you little sis," her brother Raymond and wife Michelle wrote. Jerri leaves behind her husband, William Rodenbaugh; daughter, Shelly Lynn Rodenbaugh; granddaughter, Alley Rollins; brother and his wife, Raymond and Michell Simmons; brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Bonnie Wyneken; and Wayne and Kandie Clark. Flowers must be delivered to the Anchorage Lutheran Church at 1420 N St. by 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014.

God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So he put his arms around you
And whispered
"Come home to me"

With tearful eyes we watched you
And saw you pass away
And although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay

A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest
God broke our heats to prove to us
He only takes the best

I miss you so much Momma. It hurts so bad. I love you

I'm glad to have known you since I was 19 years old hitting garage sales with you and your family while I was a college student @ UAA.
