Kenneth Franklin Obituary

Kenneth Blaine Franklin, 59, a longtime Alaska resident died on July 29, 2019.
B.C. was born on Jan. 31, 1960, to Clifford and Winnie Franklin in Atlanta, Ga. He actually shared the same birthday as his father.
After arriving in Anchorage, Alaska, in October 1965, he met lots of people and the people in the community became a second family. He attended Mountain View Elementary and Clark Jr. High, and graduated from East High School. He worked numerous jobs and found his way to Bethel, Alaska. Our brother loved the people and fishing and hunting of that part of Alaska.
He's the father of four children, Brent Charles (deceased), Kielan, Kiefan and Kessalyn; and two granddaughters, whom he dearly loved. He leaves his brothers, Clifford (Dale), Jean (Lanette), Allen (Jeanne) and J. Biff (Louise); his sisters, Maxie Fontenot from California, Denise (Larry) and Faye (Joe); Mary Nichols, as his partner whom he spent a lot of years with and was there at the end of his life taking care of him; father and stepmom, Clifford and Odessa Franklin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great- great-great-nieces and -nephews, and a host of other relatives.
His ashes will be carried to Bethel to be spread out over the river. His mother and son preceded him in death.
The family thanks the doctors, nurses and hospice for caring for our brother. And to all the people who loved and cared for our brother B.C., thank you.
A celebration of life will be held or scheduled on Aug. 9, 2019, from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. in Anchorage, at the Lions' Park in Mountain View. Please come join us in celebrating his life. At a later date, a celebration of life will be held in Bethel.

I'm very late for this message but just recently heard the very sad news! BC was a great friend and I will always remember the good days at Clark and East! I used to see him when I would go to Bethel for work and it was always great visiting! R.I.P. my friend.

So many stories but I met B at Central In 72-73, and it was simple, he smoked us in everything! Whenever POP Warner, or Clark or East came to play, and it didn’t matter which Sport, it was always an uneasy feeling, but between him and his brothers, it was fun to watch!
Our friendship bonded after B had stepped on a toothpick and it broke off in his heel, and the damn thing would not heal, then something happened to his crutches, Anyhow, he had to get somewhere, important, I think it was so he could talk to the girls down at Nordstrom’s and Pennies, then Sears Mall and finally back to Flower St., we would walk all around town literally as human crutches, with him hobbling for weeks, we were worn out trying to keep up, but it was an honor for us, it was like we were walking around with Earl Campbell
Pretty funny, but our friendship and loyalty for each other throughout the years and struggles was undying and always will be. He is alive in my heart.
We’re all blessed in our own ways to have known him and lucky to have had so many good laughs, and gives me something to look forward to when I’m called.
Love and condolences and prayers
to the Family, Kids, Mary, and all of his friends
Extra condolences for Biff, Louise and family. ❤

My brother from another mother but same Father. Thank you B for reconnecting us after 40 years. We never forgot our connection at Mt. View Elementary and Clark Jr. High. We won the Boys Club basketball championship with Larry Green as our coach. Your family took me in as one of theirs from day one. Even though I was military dependent going to school off base. I know God was responsible for reconnecting us again after so many years. We will see each other again on the other side my friend. Rest in peace until then. I just found out about you passing surfing the internet. My condolences to the Franklin family.

My man you going to be missed. You're to greatest natural athletes I've ever known. You and your brothers set a level of excellence for Alaska sports. One of the greatest athletic families ever to exist anywhere. I remember chasing you down when you played for Clark trying to catch you before you made that touchdown and those powerful legs just kept zigzagging back and forth I remember saying to myself I can't catch this boy he's so fast. anyway I love you little bro you're in a much better place rest in heaven DC-10 to Franklin

Ill never forget the day I met you B. I was a new kid on the block and just started at Mt View Elementary. There I was, out on recess when some kid decided for no reason to pick on me. The next thing I know and in a flash, you had him pinned against a tree and told him to leave me alone. Like you always have with your many friends, you made me feel like your best friend then and continued to throughout our time together. Thanks for being a great friend during our childhood, through our years in Clark Jr. High and into our high school. Some of my best memories as a kid and teenager have you in them. Ive always shared football and funny stories of you with my family. Your quick and easy laugh and valuable friendship will be greatly missed! Im glad we got together and talked on your last day. Even in your pain, you laughed easy, imparted some wisdom and sent your love out to my family. Your heart was the size of a football!! Continue to rest in the Lords care and loving spirit my friend. Ill take a freedom ride on my Harley for you today. I just remembered that dark rainy fall night we road two up on a chopper across town hahahah Love you bud!

Our thoughts and prayers to the Franklin family for the loss of B.C and also for the recent passing of Biff's son and B.C's son a few years back. We all knew of his excellence on the football field but we were in total fear when he would show up to shoot some hoops. Gods Speed B.C.
