Michael Cruse Moss

Michael Cruse Moss, 68, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

Michael was born on March 11, 1956 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Cruse Watson Moss and Virginia Patton Moss. He graduated from Cranbrook School in 1974 and the University of Michigan in 1978 with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics and Business Administration. He was the third generation member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.

Michael began his career with General Motors in Detroit before joining his father in the family business, General Automotive Corporation, based in Ann Arbor. Michael went on to lead the business unit in Shannon, Ireland and after returning to The States, he led the Pelham, Georgia manufacturing unit, moving him to Albany, when he then shifted his efforts into real estate management and development.

Michael was a resident of Albany for 37 years. He was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and held Deacon and Elder positions, was a volunteer after school tutor for students through the Whiz Kids program, and took Mission Trips to Belize. He was a longstanding member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Rebel Chapter and a proud member of the Albany Rotary Club. He held previous positions in the community including sitting on the Boards of Theatre Albany and The Albany Museum of Art as the Treasurer. Michael loved skiing, traveling, spending as much time as possible by the pool or at the beach. He brought joy and light to so many lives.

He is survived by his three daughters, Elizabeth Pollock (Kurt), Megan Moss, and Shelley Moss, his sister, Cari Loop (Jeff), several nieces and nephews, two grandchildren, and his dog, Molly Malone.

Memorial service will be held in the near future. In the present, and in lieu of flowers, Michael would want us to donate in his memory to Covenant Presbyterian Church or Bush Animal Hospital, both in Albany.
