Amancio Hector Perez

1927 - 2019

PREMONT - Amancio Hector Perez, 91, passed away at his beloved home surrounded by his loving family. A life well lived, our sweet daddy left this world and went to go with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 6, 2019. Dad was born in Agua Leguas, Nueveo Leon Mexico, on April 8, 1927 to Felipe and Hortencia Perez. His family settled in Premont, Texas when he was 8 months old. He was raised in the great depression era on the Perez Dairy Farm. Early in life, he worked for the Detroit Manufacturing Companies. He then proudly joined the United States Army in 1952 and served during the Korean War. On January 1, 1956, he married Elodia Garza in Alice, Texas. They truly were in love and the best of friends for over 60 years. After her passing two years ago from a short illness, dad had said, "Era un justo para cuidar a ella."

Dad lived to almost his mother's age of 92. He resembled her in appearance and spirit which encompassed sweetness, strength, and stubbornness. With much heart, he loved his family and worked real hard to provide well for them. He was a true rancher and farmer. He was a gifted welder for over 50 years working for various oilfield companies and ranches. His work never stopped, spending time in his welding shop fabricating everything from cattle guards to gates. He was still killing 5'4" rattlesnakes with a garden hoe at 87. At 88, before his successful open heart surgery, his sons were trying to tell him not to take dangerous actions like that. His reply was "the garden hose only weighed 2 lbs." At 90, he was still enjoying his cattle transferring from pasture to pasture. He will forever be remembered for his various stories of his childhood, long life friends and his Korean service time. Despite of his short illness, he always remembered everything and everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, siblings, Genaro, Rodolfo, Minerva, Elio, Eusebio, and Herlinda.

Survivors include his sons, Hector (Lillian) Perez of Alice, Texas, Robert "Bobby" Perez of Premont, Texas, Ricardo "Rick" (Hilda) Perez of Harlingen, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Diaz (Jesus), Danielle Perez, Robert A. Perez, Zion Perez, and Ray Perez; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Alexis and Aiden Diaz.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 5 till 9 p.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Premont. Burial to follow at Premont Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Hector Perez, Bobby Perez, Rick Perez, Robert A. Perez, Elio Perez, and Jesus Diaz. Honorary pallbearers will be Humberto Perez, Alexander Diaz, Aiden Diaz, Zion Perez, and Ray Perez.

Well daddy, we are really going to miss you. We will always see you and mom on the lawn swing during our family gatherings and waving bye to us from the front porch. You were both the greatest parents. You both sacrificed and provided everything for us. Your love was immeasurable. How blessed we were to have you both. You both are gone now and even though it was a sweet long life, it was still too short. Precious memories we will forever hold in our hearts. We love you so very much, Hector, Bobby, and Ricky.
