Estelle Green Obituary

Estelle Green, of Anniston, joined her Lord and Savior in heaven on January 29, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 2, 2024, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel in Golden Springs. Rev. Dunaway Conner will officiate, and a private burial will follow in Centre, AL. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Estelle A. Green was born on April 2, 1930, in Centre, AL. She was the second-born of four children to the late Willard and Katie Lee West. Growing up on a farm, she learned the value of hard work and doing her best. One of the lifelong values that she embraced was making sure that she treated people the way that she wanted to be treated. Estelle will be most remembered for her years living in Piedmont. While there, she spent many years in manufacturing, with her early years at Arrow Shirt in Cedartown, GA and later at Playtex Mfg. in Piedmont. She touched more lives and was passionate about managing and later owning Merle Norman Cosmetics in Piedmont. Estelle always wanted her customers to leave pleased and appreciated, while most became lasting friends. Estelle's heart was at its fullest when her family was gathered around her table, making sure that she had cooked something that everyone would enjoy. Survivors include her and her late husband's children, Rhonda (Steve) Farmer of Fairhope, Michelle (Brad) Mendheim of Dothan, Ricky (Deborah) Westbrook of Anniston, Mike (Anita) Green of Winder, GA, and Richard (Robbie) Green of Memphis. Estelle is the beloved grandmother of 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Young, of Piedmont. In her later years, Estelle and her late husband, Windel, moved to Anniston where they became members of Golden Springs Baptist Church, and later residents of NHC Place, where she lived for almost nine years. A special thank you to the staff at NHC Place, Heavenly Host of Angels, Kathy Robertson, and Brenda Estes for the love and care that they gave her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org/donate); or to the charity of your choice. Please accept my most sincere condolences on her passing. I have many fond memories of Estelle from my youth, working with her in my early twenties at Playtex, and in church, after she began her walk with Christ. May you all find comfort in knowing that you will one day see her again. For now may the Lord bless you and keep you and give you peace. May the Lord wrap His loving arms around you all and comfort you as only He can.
