ALBERT WUNSCH
AGE: 77 BEACH HAVEN TERRACE
Albert Wunsch of Stuart, FL and Beach Haven Terrace, NJ, formerly of Buckingham, PA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009, at Aventura Medical Center, Aventura, FL. He was 77. He was the loving husband for 53 years of Shirley A. Wunsch (nee Heizmann).
Born in Bristol, PA, he was the son of the late Albert Wunsch, Sr. and Hilda Townend Wunsch. Albert lived most of his life in Bucks County, PA. Al attended Langhorne - Middletown High School and was a 1952 graduate of The Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades, Media, PA. He was honored to be named the Alumnus of The Year in 1997. He was a Korean War Army veteran. After working in the power plant industry, he decided to enter the recreational vehicle market. In 1972, he founded and established Golf Cars, Inc. located in Buckingham, PA, serving as owner and President until his retirement in 1994.
In addition to playing golf, Al was an avid boater and sailor and served as Commodore of the Spray Beach Yacht Club on Long Beach Island, NJ in 1983. He was also on the Board of the Spray Beach Chapel, Spray Beach, NJ. He was a longtime member of Old York Road and Seaview Country Clubs. He was presently a member of Willoughby Golf Club, Stuart, FL.
Al and Shirley traveled extensively, including Europe, Asia, Australia, and South and Central America. He particularly enjoyed sailing to the islands with his friends and captained many trips on the Intercoastal Waterway. One of his favorite times was watching the sun set over Barnegat Bay along with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Al is survived by his daughters: Wendy Schneider (Jon) of Doylestown, PA, Linda Szymanski (Paul) of Doylestown, PA and Sandra Czerwinski (John) of Buckingham, PA; nine grandchildren; Stephanie, Kurt, and Scott Schneider; Bryan, Blake, and PJ Szymanski and Steven, Matthew, and Christopher Czerwinski. Also surviving is his sister, Betty Jane DeVoe, Carmichael, CA; brother, Russell R. Haines, Jr. (Margaret) of Brielle, NJ; brother-in-law, Clifford L. Heizmann (Caroline) of Buckingham, PA as well as many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Al's family Tuesday evening, Dec. 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Reed and Steinbach Funeral Home, 2335 Lower State Road, Doylestown. Relatives and friends are also invited to his memorial service, 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Doylestown United Methodist Church, 320 W. Swamp Road, Doylestown, where friends may call after 10 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be private.
An additional memorial service will be held in Stuart, Florida at a later date.
