Colleen Boylan Obituary

Colleen K. Boylan

Spring Lake - Colleen K. Boylan, 76, of Spring Lake, New Jersey, passed away early Tuesday morning surrounded by her family.

Colleen was born in Milwaukee, but raised in Chicago. She attended grammar school at St Kilian's where she was also a parishioner. Colleen went on to graduate from Academy of Our Lady High School, but not before meeting John "Jack" Boylan at the age of 14. The young couple would go on to spend their lives together, getting married in 1964 and then moving east to Bridgewater, NJ in 1974 to pursue Jack's career and to raise their young family. Family was always the most important thing to Colleen and Jack, with holiday family gatherings and the children's/grandchildren's sporting events and concerts as top priorities.

Colleen enjoyed the water. She and Jack would boat from New Jersey into the Chesapeake Bay and then to their home in Hilton Head, South Carolina and once even to Naples Florida. Captain Jack enjoyed the charting and Colleen, lovingly referred to as First Mate, had responsibilities she took seriously and performed beautifully. Colleen truly enjoyed the journey and the time together. She also loved to travel, most recently to South Bend Indiana for Notre Dame football games, to Arizona, Hawaii and California and to Europe, including: Ireland, England, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. The family also has many fond memories of their time spent at their home in the Poconos.

Active in her local community, Colleen was the President of the Women's Golf League and a member of the Bridgewater Garden Club.

Colleen is predeceased by her parents Timothy and Florence Corcoran and her sister Sheila Skidmore.

Colleen is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Jack Boylan of Spring Lake; her children John Boylan and his wife Nancy of Doylestown, PA, James Boylan and his wife Lisa of Bernardsville, NJ, and Karen Hinds and her husband Eric of Holmdel, NJ; her sister Rita Hopkins; and her beloved grandchildren Kyle, Ryan, Eric, Connor, Aidan, Lauren, Abigail, Amanda, Melissa and Jack.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 22nd from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 S. Holmdel Rd, Holmdel. A mass of Christian burial will be offered Friday, July 23rd at 10:30 AM at the Church of St. Catharine, 108 Middletown Rd, Holmdel. An entombment will follow at St. Gabriel's Mausoleum 549 County Rd 520, Marlboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to Hope For Children Foundation, PO Box 4325 Middletown NJ 07748. For messages of condolence, please visit Colleen's page of tributes at www.holmdelfuneralhome.com.

On this anniversary of Colleen's death, I want to share my memories of Colleen. She was such a nice and kind person. I remember her at the Bridgewater Garden Club with her many friends. She showed me around her home, when I was there and she made me feel very comfortable watching her dog at her house. Colleen was very gracious and friendly. She was a classy lady. She was well liked by the other members of the garden club. May she rest in peace.
