Edwin McDermott Obituary
AGE: 98 • Long Branch
Edwin T. McDermott, 98, a long time resident of Long Branch, died on Saturday, March 14th at Kensington Court, Tinton Falls. Mr. McDermott was a proud Army veteran serving in World War II. He was one of the first trained in radar, and served as a Sergeant in command of radar specialist's. He was employed for 40 years at Parkway Appliance, Long Branch, working in sales and installation. He was a parishioner of St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch.
Ed was pre-deceased by his wife, Ruth Smith McDermott in 1976; their two sons, Joseph McDermott in 2003 and Thomas McDermott, MD in 2008; and his long time companion, Flora Kann in 2011. Surviving are his two daughters-in-law, Dayle McDermott and Deanna McDermott; his grandchildren, Erin, Joshua, Jacob and Zachary McDermott and Autumn Pepin; his great great grandchildren, Saya, Cadence, Alexandra and Edwin Thomas McDermott; and his nephew and his wife, Michael and Barbara McDermott.
Visitation will Tuesday, March 17th, 4 to 7 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell St., Long Branch. Mass of Christian burial, Wednesday, March 18th, 10 am at St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. Interment will military honors will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
