Hannah Duffy Obituary
AGE: 14 • Tinton Falls
Hannah Rose Duffy, age 14, earned her angel wings on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 9:40 pm., following a year-long battle with brain cancer. She passed peacefully at home in the arms of her loving family.
She was born on March 18, 1999, in Livingston, NJ, the daughter of Susan Funck and Kevin Duffy. She graduated from 8th grade this past spring and would have been a high school freshman at MRHS this year. Her love for soccer was endless, and she played with heart and soul during every game. No one will ever forget the day she scored the winning goal in double overtime, just two weeks after having major brain surgery. Hannah was an amazing girl, full of light and love, a true testament to what it means to be courageous.
Hannah is survived by her loving mother, Susan Funck, stepfather John Funck and beloved little brother, Robbie, of Tinton Falls; her devoted father, Kevin Duffy, stepmother Abigail Ponce, and sister Katie, of Cranford; grandparents, Michael and Rita Levy, Lois Duffy, Thomas Duffy, and Mary Funck; aunts Kathy, Amanda, Megan, Carolyn, Betsy, Helen, Eileen, Mary, Ann, Chris, and Patti; uncles David, Jason, James, Joe, Dan, Al, Jim, Gerard, Mike, Jim, Tim, Terry and Matt; many cousins and a community of loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving aunt, Michelle Nolan.
Both the visitation and funeral service will be held at St. Anselm Church, 1028 Wayside Rd, Tinton Falls, NJ. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Monday, September 30, 2013 and the funeral mass will be Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 11am. I learned of Hannah's story through my coworker and although I didnt know Hannah or her family she was such an inspiration to me through this battle she fought with such strength and courage. I am so very sorry for the loss of your precious child. She was an amazing young woman and certainly has earned her angel wings. God Bless

Kevin, I am so sorry to hear about Hannah. I remember when she was born how happy u were. I bought u a gift for her n then I moved to Calfornia. Now to hear this is so hard to understand why she was taken from u so soon. Sue and family, I am so very sorry that you lost a light in your life. We had our kids around the same time (Hannah was born a month before my twins) and wanted these children so very much. It is difficult to comprehend how you must be feeling now, but it is my prayer that you feel the prayers of those that are supporting you, together with your mother's love and spirit you have carried throughout this time. I realize it may seem somewhat hollow to tell you what an inspiration you are, but I will anyway. I also know that family ties along with who we are, what we know, etc. carries with us into the eternities so that point is actually more significant than just this mortal time. I am so sorry you had to say goodbye so soon to Hannah. I never met Hannah, but through your description, Hannah's light and legacy has been made very apparent. I wish you all the peace and comfort possible during this time.

We are so sorry for your loss during this difficult time. It is hard to understand why, but have faith that everything happens for a reason. Everyone that knew Hannah or heard about her will always remember her as a fighter. She has passed on many traits to all that knew her - to never give up and to be strong. We will some day meet again, but for now she will live on in our hearts.

I do not know Hannah, but I also lost my son 3 years ago. The word FAITH becomes part of your vocabulary and a way of living. Hug your kids, tell them you love them and know that Hannah is flying through the hills of heaven with the rest of the angels. Fly high little angel.

I will always remember having Hannah in my GATE classes. She was not only bright, but filled our room with her vivacious energy.
