We lost a friend.

All of us share a profound loss with Dr. Peacock's passing. He was our colleague and our friend. We shall all miss him very much. All of us experienced his dry sense of humor, his diligence, professionalism, perfectionism and his dedication to his profession. All of us at some point benefited from his knowledge and his willingness to teach us what we didn't know and what we wanted to know. He was patient and enjoyed explaining the details and nuances of what he did. All of us, either during investigations, trial prep or in-trial benefited from his skill and attention to detail.

Even on those occasions when we would smile to each other in wonderment over yet another request by the good doctor in a seemingly obvious case…deep down, we knew that if he was paying such close attention to secondary cases, we knew he had done all that was needed and more in our important ones. His attention to detail and his insistence on perfection showed in his testimony and presentation to juries. He was the consummate professional.

In addition to his skill and talent, many of us had the opportunity to get to know him as a person. For those of us who had that opportunity, we were fortunate enough to find a man with warmth and a great sense of humor. We will miss him as our medical examiner and we will miss him as a person.

I am honored to have worked with him and to have learned from him. I am more honored that he was my friend.

We will miss you Doc.
