John Oster Obituary
AGE: 71 • Port Monmouth
John S. Oster, 71, of Port Monmouth, NJ, died on November 1, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was born in Newark, and lived in Middletown for 46 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. John was a custodian for the Middletown Township Board of Education for 12 years. After his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and especially loved to build furniture and birdhouses. He was a 30 year member of the Middletown Elks Lodge 2179, and served as Elk of the Year in 1990.
Surviving are his loving wife of 50 years, Joan; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Amy Oster, and John and Donna Oster; 5 grandchildren, Christine, Faith, Lori, Richie, and Tyler; sister, Eilleen Peterson; brother, Robert Oster, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Oster.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 05, 2013 from 3 to 7 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo. I will truly miss Johnny- O. I only knew him for a short few months when I worked at "Ted's" but his kindness was unmatched. My sincerest condolences go out to his family.
