Walter Mitter Obituary
AGE: 64 • Union Beach
Walter W. Mitter Sr., 64 of Union Beach New Jersey passed away suddenly on February 6, 2011 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel New Jersey. Walter "Pootie Tang", as he was lovingly called by his family was born on June 17, 1947 in Long Branch NJ and raised in Cliffwood NJ. He was educated in the Matawan School System. He was employed with Local 363 of Asbury Park NJ until his retirement. Walter could bring the life to any party with his signature dance moves.
Walter was predeceased by his parents Flora and Roger Mitter; his brothers Roger Jr "Chops", Roland "Punkin", Tony and Jerry Mitter; nephews Kevin and Steven Mitter; and niece Shanae Gumbs. Walter is survived by his loving devoted wife Maxine; his sons Walter W. Mitter Jr. and his wife Sarah, Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Dorell Mitter, West Hollywood, CA, and Durand Cheatum and his wife Nickcole, Davie, FL; stepson Calvin Cheatum, Keyport NJ; stepdaughter Tina Cheatum; sisters Carol Mitter, Matawan, NJ, Pearl Gumbs, Matawan, NJ; Uncles Harold Tullis, Jersey City, NJ and Melvin (Gerri) Tullis, Keyport, NJ; aunt Flora Gorshen, Matawan, NJ; sisters in law; Viola Mitter, Debbie (Lemon) Shivers, Roxanne (Brian) Robinson, Janet Stephens; brothers in law Sylvester (Lynn) Cheatum, Eddie (Callie) Cheatum, Julius Cheatum and Glenn Cheatum; mother in law Frances Cheatum; grandchildren, Chanel Black, Kayla Cheatum, Joshua Cheatum, Gregory Robinson, Ava Marie Mitter; 33 nieces and nephews; 62 great nieces and nephews; 12 great great nieces and nephews & many loving relatives & friends.
A viewing will be held for Mr. Mitter on Monday from 10:00a.m. until noon at Providence Baptist Church, Cliffwood, NJ. The funeral service will begin at noon, immediately following the viewing hours. Childs Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.

Uncle Walter was the last of the uncles and we thank God for giving him 64 years. He was loving,caring and funny. He love to dance and was the life of the party. We will miss you and rest in peace.
