Elizabeth Sharp Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Sharp passed away on December 9, 2025.

Betty was born in Yuba City, CA, to Godfrey and Elizabeth Filter, but was raised in the country near Lomo, Live Oak, CA. She was the oldest of four girls and proud to be a farmer's daughter.

Betty attended Encinal School for eight years and was always proud that her grandchildren were the fourth generation to attend that school.

Betty graduated from Live Oak High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1956. She treasured the fact that her father was able to hand her her diploma. He was on the School Board at the time. That meant a lot to her.

After graduating, Betty entered the working world as an employee for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Yuba City, CA, from 1956 to 1967. Coming from a farming family, she enjoyed her work in the field of agriculture.

In 1968, Betty joined the school system and worked at Plumas School, Madera High School, and the Live Oak School District, where she completed her career after thirty years.

Betty developed a strong work ethic early on and always went above and beyond to do her job to the absolute best of her ability.

During her years working in the various school systems, she worked with students ranging in age from the little children to the high schoolers and enjoyed them all.

In her younger years, Betty loved to square dance and had great memories of dancing and making new friends.

She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Live Oak, CA, where she also enjoyed many years of working with the Catholic Guild who awarded scholarships to local students. Betty was also a Eucharistic Minister.

Betty enjoyed gardening and was very proud of her yard. She always had room for one more plant.

Her pleasure of reading was evidenced by the number of books she bought, read, and traded. She enjoyed many years volunteering at the Butte County Library Book Sales in Gridley, CA.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Michelle Dehart; son, Michael Sharp; she was proud of her three grandchildren, Chase Clegg, Cassandra Travis, and Christiana Travis; two sisters, Jane Dunbar, and Elaine Filter; as well as her aunt, Mary Albertini.

Those she has joined include her daughter, Marjorie Sharp; husband, Peter Skuris; parents; grandparents; sister, Joyce Hartman; newborn brother, Godfrey Filter Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be said on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Live Oak, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

Dear Michelle and Michael-So sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I just recently had surgery and am unable to attend the funeral. I enjoyed working with your mom at Luther and the last time I saw her I told her how great she looked! Hold on to your wonderful memories!
