Ellen Jeffries Obituary

Ellen Tayeko Jeffries, passed away peacefully surrounded by family January 21, 2025, in
Marysville, CA.

She was born on September 4,1941, in San Francisco, CA, to Richard and Yoshiye Tsukuda.

She married Charles Jeffries, a retired highway patrolman from 1971, until his death in 1981.

Ellen was an indispensable member of her community, beloved by all who had the honor of meeting her.

She started working at the Yuba County Sheriff's department in 1961, at the tender age of 19, where she served 43 devoted years to the department as an Administrative Assistant to several Sheriff's throughout her career, before retiring in 2004.

A Sheriff was once quoted saying that, "the Sheriff's Department can run just fine without a Sheriff, but not without an Ellen."

Ellen was known for her unconditional love and unwavering support. Truly being the glue that kept her family together.

Ellen had a magnetic quality, drawing people close to her with her naturally caring and generous nature, thoughtful and tender actions, and consistent acts of selflessness.

Never forgetting a birthday, life event, or important function of her loved ones, no matter how small.

Over her lifetime she achieved many great accomplishments, our favorite being her rather prestigious "Puzzle master title" given to her by family. Having completed and enjoyed many over the years with the people who loved her most.

She enjoyed her weekly "Girly, Girl Breakfast Club" meet ups with her loyal and amazing friends, who we feel grateful for having kept her entertained and cherishing her throughout the years.

Ellen will be survived by her daughters, Jennifer Conner, and Candance Jeffries; grandchildren Sydney Potts, Phoenix Clarke, and Victoria Jeffries; brothers, Ernest (Ruth Ann) Tsukuda, Clifford Tsukuda, Edwin Tsukuda; sisters, Caroline McEssy, Gail Tsukuda, Laura Murphy, Eileen Docken, Lynn Tsukuda, Janet (John) Crocker; and numerous nieces and nephews;

She was preceded in death by her brothers, R.Takeshi Tsukuda, Arthur Tsukuda,Reynold Tsukuda; and aunt, Natsuye Nakashima.

Ellen thrived on challenges, and could always see the big picture from small details.

She will live on forever in our hearts, with her eternal presence, undying memories and lasting impressions on every one of us.

This world is missing a very special piece of its puzzle. The Celebration of Life has not been scheduled yet. Thank you for your assistance, Ullrey Memorial Chapel.

I first met Ellen in 1973 when I was hired by Sheriff Gary Miller. She was the Sheriffs Secretary and at first glance she was a stern and imposing person but when you got to know her she was very friendly, helpful, and always willing to laugh. Her department nick name was "Scooter " and it was such a pleasure to work along with her until she retired. I am truly sorry to hear of her passing and my sincere condolences to her family
