Ray McReynolds Obituary

Ray McReynolds also know as "The Fire Guy" 68, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024.

Ray graduated from Yuba City High School in 1974. He just went to his 50 year high school reunion and loved connecting with old friends. In high school Ray was inspired to help others when a good friend collapsed and died in P.E. class. No one knew what to do, not even the coaches. That's when he knew wanted a life as a first responder.

He started his career as an ambulance EMT in Yuba County. He then decided he wanted to be a fireman. He attended fire/science academy. Starting his career in 1975 with the Sutter County Fire Dept. In 1977 he was hired by Yuba County Fire Dept. He retired as shift commander in 1995.

Ray then started Sierra Outfitters fishing guide service for about 3 years. He then started his own business the "Fire Guys" serving our community for 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, of 40 years, Jody; son, Brandon (Tiffany); daughter, Katelyn (Kerrim); brothers, Brad, Brian (Carolyn), Dan (Paige); parents, Fran and Dan McReynolds; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Lucas, Ava and Carter.

Ray loved his family and friends. He enjoyed learning new things, golf, wine tasting and traveling to new places. He was a kind man with a big heart. He will be missed by many.

Celebration of Life will be held Nov. 3, 2024 at the SYO Building in Sutter, CA from 1pm-3pm.
