SHARON GAUTHIER In Loving Memory of Sharon Gauthier Sharon Gauthier, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on February 18, 1941, in Beaver, Oklahoma, to loving parents, Marie (Rathbone) and Jimmie Cole. Upon graduation from Beaver High School in 1959, Sharon went on to pursue her higher education at the University of Oklahoma. There, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Being raised in Beaver, she always loved the community and maintained relationships with friends and family. On December 16th, 1967, Sharon married the love of her life, Dr. Wilfred Gauthier. They joyfully celebrated 55 years of marriage together. Sharon and her husband first met while she worked as a medical technologist at Veterans Administration Hospital, and he was a surgical resident at OUHSC. Sharon and Fred were blessed with two wonderful children, Elizabeth and Stephen. After starting a family, she dedicated her time to creating a loving home, while supporting Fred's medical career, serving as President of the Southern Oklahoma Medical Association Alliance in Ardmore and at the state level. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Marie Cole, and her daughter-in-law, Christine Gauthier. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Wilfred Gauthier; her daughter, Elizabeth Grundy and husband, Tim, and her son, Dr. Stephen Gauthier and wife, Kiley; her brother J.D. (Carol) Cole, and her sister, Linda (Larry) Atkinson; her grandchildren, Caitlin Grundy, Hannah Grundy, Cole Grundy, Henry Gauthier, William Gauthier, and Emma Gauthier. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews, Cole Atkinson, Braton Cole, Stephanie Atkinson, and Kerri Cole, and several great nieces and great nephews. A variety of hobbies and interests brought immense joy to Sharon's life. She loved spending time with her family and friends in Colorado, where she enjoyed snow skiing, camping, hiking or reading her latest book. In Ardmore, she participated in the First Methodist Church Sanctuary Choir, the Vesper handbell group, and was dedicated to her involvement in Stephen Ministries. She looked forward to the Fellowship Sunday School Class each week, and faithfully served on various boards and committees within the church she loved. In addition to being an avid reader, Sharon delighted in socializing with friends and serving her community. She was a longtime member of the Dizzy Daisies Garden Club and sang with the Community Choral Society for twenty years. Sharon and Fred have many friends in Ardmore and have enjoyed spending time with them. Without fail, she met with her coffee group on Wednesdays to visit and "cure the ills of the world". Along with Fred, Sharon looked forward to weekly Friday dinners with their beloved group of close friends. Funeral services to honor and celebrate Sharon's life will be held on July 7, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., at the First Methodist Church, with Dr. David Daniel officiating the ceremony.
