I have known Betty since grade school. We rode on the same bus route and we would play cards using our text book as a table. Back then we played"cheat" and " pig". She always had money for treats or gum and after school we would beat it to the grocery store to get stuff and get back to the bus before it left.
In the teen years we talked for hours on the phone doing homework, talking about boys and the days events. We laughed and joked around alot playing practical jokes on each other. We wrote on notebook and post notes on locker about who we had a crush on at that time.As young adult we loved to drink beer and play pool At that time our hang outs were the "corner" and Mobil.Betty taught me how to play pool and we would sometimes play in tournaments.Betty won a few times, I never got the hang of the game.
I was there when Roger was born and for Chris birth also. When Chris was born, Betty went to sleep during most of the labor pains. By the time Les got home and we went to the clinic she was fully dilated and baby ready to be born. The doctor rode in the car with us to the hospital. It looked like a competition" how many people will fit in compact car" within 10-15 of arrival at hospital, Chris was born.
Betty and I lived together for a while when Roger was a baby. Didn't matter what the weather was we always had to get to coachmans manor for the weekend. Rain snow, sleet nor ice kept us from our mission. LOL Betty loved to play cards, every Sunday after dinner we would play Uno. She sat on one side of Gary and told me to sit on the other side and we would hang up and hit him with all the draw cards. He was a good sport about it but if Betty was ganged on it was a different story! She had a wicked elbow! There was a time we were out and someone referred to Betty as my "granny". I could just hear Betty's reaction to the comment and I started to laugh so hard my side hurt! Lots of good memories!

Sorry. To hear of Betty's passing way too young may she rest in peace.
