Keith Dexter

Keith Leonard Dexter (92) passed away on May 28, 2016 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was born in Charles City, Iowa on June 11, 1923, the son of Leonard Dexter and Winifred Dugan. He married Eleonore "Hope" Dexter in 1946. Keith served in the United States Navy as Petty Officer Second during WW II and later served in the United States Air Force as a Tech Sargent. After an Honorable Discharge, he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Southwest Missouri State College (1953) and a Masters of Science Degree in Education from Emporia State Teachers College (1960). After obtaining his Bachelor of Science, he pursued his passion of Education and working in the "School House". Keith rose from a Coach and History Teacher to Superintendent; always looking at "Preparing Today for A Better Tomorrow" for his students. He finally returned to his dream of being the Vice Principal at his hometown high school from which he retired. He was a Scottish Rite and Master Mason for over 50 years. Keith was also a Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. He was also a Volunteer at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Keith was preceded in death by: his wife "Hope"; and his son Michael Dexter. He is survived by: his son Dwight Dexter and his wife Donna Dexter of Sioux Falls, SD. He is also survived by 2 Grand Daughters Elizabeth (Centreville, VA) & Leah Dexter (Minneapolis, MN). Interment will be at a later date in El Dorado Springs, MO. In lieu of flowers, Support Educators that Educate.
