Darlene Grace Hamilton JUNE 7, 1929 - DEC. 30, 2023
ONTARIO
Our wonderful mother, Darlene Hamilton, passed away December 30, 2023. She was born June 7, 1929 to Hudson and Bernice Robb. In 1934 her parents, along with her brothers Jim and Wayne, moved to Adrian Oregon.
She attended Adrain schools and graduated from high school in 1947. She then went on to attend OSU as a home economics major. There she met her future husband, Bill Hamilton.
Darlene and Bill had four children, daughters Teresa, Vickie, Pam, and son, Tim. She was the heart and soul of our family, and the best mother a child could ever want.
She loved living in the Treasure Valley and had many dear friends. She was involved in numerous clubs and volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Four Rivers Culture Center, the hospital auxiliary and the Owyhee/ANK Garden Club.
She was a 4-H leader, teaching sewing and cooking to her children and their friends. Darlene loved to golf and played on the women's golf league in Payette at the Scotch Pines Golf Course. She was a consistent player and accumulated three holes in one!
She also loved to play bridge and did so regularly with a wonderful group of ladies who remained close friends for many years. Another of her favorite pastimes was dancing. She would go to the Senior Center and dance the night away with her friends.
Her faith was most important to her. She was a member of the first Christian Church in Ontario for much of her adult life.
She loved to cook and entertain. When friends would show up unexpectedly she would always come up with a great meal. Mom was a gifted seamstress and each year would enter the Malheur County fair with her quilts, embroidery, and flowers; especially her award winning roses.
There are many fond family memories of going up to the Owyhee reservoir to the cabin, catching and filleting loads of crappies. Mom loved to fish. Even in her later years she jumped at the chance to go camping, hunting, and FISHING!
Mom and dad owned the A&W drive in Ontario. They worked hard and enjoyed meeting new people and teaching the value of hard work to their children.
Mom could be strong willed and stubborn but had huge heart. She was generous, loyal-and kind to all and was loved by her friends, her many grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, son Tim, and granddaughter Kim and brothers Wayne and Jim.
