RONALD E. BAHR Ronald E. "Ron" Bahr, 80, of Atchison, Kansas died Friday, October 25, 2024 at his residence. Funeral service will be on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Lantz as officiant. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday evening, Nov. 1stfrom 6-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Ron will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens. Memorials may be left to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. The Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral care. Ron was born July 5, 1944, in Atchison, Kansas the son of Elmer George Bahr and Mildred Rhae (McClelland) Bahr. He attended schools in Atchison, Kansas, graduating from Atchison High School in 1962. He graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri earning a bachelor of science degree in May 1982. He and Rose Coke were united in marriage on June 13, 1965 at the First Christian Church in Atchison, Kansas. Rose preceded him in death on May 14, 2017. Ron was employed with the Blish-Mize Company from October 1963 until November 1988, he then served with the Kansas Army National Guard in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from November 1988 until April 1990. From April 1990 until April 2010, he served with various Department of Defense Contractors at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served with the Kansas Army National Guard from August 27, 1961 until his discharge on July 31, 2004 as a Command Sergeant Major. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Ron was a member of Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion; Field Artillery Honorable Order of St. Barbara from December 1992 and Field Artillery Ancient Order of St. Barbara from December 2, 2006. He enjoyed spending time with family and his granddaughters. Ron is survived by a son, Dennis D. Bahr and wife Trisha; daughter-in-law, Kara Bahr; four granddaughters, Kiersten, daughter of David and Kara; Maddison, Kinley and Hallee, daughters of Dennis and Trisha; a sister, Linda K. Turnbull and nephews, Eric and Michael Zwonitzer. Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Bahr; a son David Bahr; a daughter, Stacey D. Bahr; his father, Elmer Bahr and his mother, Mildred Bahr Booth.

Ron was a very caring person. We will miss him so much ar church. He always helped Harold and me to go to the basement for pot lucks and helped Harold get his meal!

RON WAS a very nice man, he and my dad alex castillo used to work together i met him through mydad. We all used to go eat Chinese food together. I looked forward to those outings to hear Ron's and my dad's military stories i loved listening to them. Im going to miss those special outings having Ron in our life was a blessing..
