Anne JACKSON Obituary

JACKSON, Anne McMaster Anne (Claire) McMaster Jackson, age 83, died peacefully on January 27, 2016 in Decatur, GA after a short illness, with her husband and son at her bedside. She was the daughter of the late Dixon and Anne McMaster, and was proud to have lived in Decatur all her life. She graduated from Decatur Girls' High School, and later Wesleyan College in Macon, GA. After working for Delta Air Lines, Anne devoted herself to her family, and to a life of service at Decatur Presbyterian Church. At Decatur Presbyterian, she was ordained as a Deacon, and later an Elder; she worked as a Pastor's Aide; served on the Nominations Committee; chaired the Endowment Committee; mentored several young men and women in the Confirmation process; and was a member of longstanding of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. She held the position of Moderator of Presbyterian Women, and was a past President of the Junior League of DeKalb County. She treasured her time with family and friends at the mountain house she loved in Montreat, NC. Anne is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, William (Bill) Wingate Jackson; and her devoted son, William Wingate (Win) Jackson, Jr. Her sons, Douglas McMaster Jackson and Stewart Wyllie Jackson, predeceased her. A Service of Thanksgiving in celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Decatur Presbyterian Church, 205 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA. A reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall at the church. The family will receive friends at the reception, and requests that those attending the reception bring along a copy of a favorite picture(s) of Anne, for display at the reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Decatur Presbyterian Church, designated for the Douglas and Stewart Jackson Memorial Fund.

My heart was broken today when I heard of Anne's passing. We met while I was walking my dogs and Anne was walking in my neighborhood. We developed a special bond and friendship. I will miss her dearly! I am a better person for having known her!

With love, Missy Garrett
