C. LeCRAW Obituary

LeCRAW, Sr., C. Veazey On September 28, 2018, after a brief illness, C. Veazey LeCraw, Sr, age 92, went to be with his Lord, whom he has served and worshipped his entire life. Born on October 4, 1925 in Atlanta to Col. Roy and Julia LeCraw, Veazey had 4 brothers: Buck, Connie, Julian, and Rupert. He grew up in Atlanta, earned his Eagle Scout badge, and attended Boys High, where he was a football running back and star player. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps prior to graduation, entered service on March 20, 1944, and was honorably discharged on November 2, 1945. He enrolled at Georgia Tech, and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He worked for Humble Oil and Lockheed, then became a builder, and worked with his brothers and father on many projects in the Atlanta area. He was an avid philatelist and fiercely loyal to Georgia Tech sports and the Atlanta Falcons. On August 30, 1952, he married Sherla Meleese Miller; they celebrated 57 years together. They had three children: Chuck (Alison), Chris (Jan), and Jody Carter (Sid). He was a 3rd generation lifetime member and very active in his church, North Avenue Presbyterian, where he was a Deacon, Elder, and Elder Emeritus. He is predeceased by his wife Sherla and three brothers. He is survived by brother Rupert (Gini), his three children, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Veazey will be remembered by friends and family for his heart of grace and mercy, his love for his family, and his intense love for his Lord and Savior Jesus. Veazey had one simple line on the first page of his Bible: "Lord, meet me in these pages as I read." A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, October 7, at 1:30 p.m. at North Avenue Presbyterian Church, 607 Peachtree St, Atlanta, GA 30308, with a reception and visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Veazey's memory to the World Missions ministry at NAPC.
