Carol Little Obituary

Family-Placed Death Notice

Carol Cox Little, Age 79, of Minneapolis, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010, of natural causes in her sleep. Carol was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 2, 1931, the younger daughter of Clinton and Eleanor Cox. She attended public school in Atlanta, and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. Carol was the wife of businessman Charles A. "Charlie" Little, Jr., who owned and operated Nottingham Company in Atlanta. After 73 years in Georgia and the loss of her husband, Carol moved to Minnesota in 2004 to be near her son Clinton and his family. This was a new beginning for Carol that was filled with grandchildren, in-laws, and many special new friends in the apartments where she lived. Carol was a kind and gentle woman who was always interested in the lives of others. Her words were uplifting, edifying, and elegantly sweet. Carol will be deeply missed by many. Survived by her children, Elizabeth (Byron) Chapman of Fernandina Beach, FL, Charles "Al" (Audrey) Little, III of Smyrna, GA, Clinton (Joan) Little of St. Paul, MN, and her dear friend Anne Marie Bradford of Alexandria, VA, nieces and nephews, many grandchildren and step-grandchildren, friends and other relatives, and by her cat Hercules. Preceded by her husband Charles, son Daniel, sister Annelle, dear friend Barbara, many special relatives, neighbors, friends, and her dog Leo. Plans for a family memorial service will be made in the new year. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to your local Humane Society. The family extends special gratitude to Carol's friends and caregivers at The Kenwood Retirement Community.

My Aunt Carol was the kindest person I have ever known. She took all of life in grace. Yes, Grace, is the most accurate description of her. My parents (her sister -and brother- in- law) spoke often and lovingly and graciously of both Aunt Carol and Uncle Charles (Mom's
brother). My heart is heavy for her passing and I can feel the emptiness she has left on earth. My thoughts have been toward her a lot recently as I feel this "not finishing"--"not over" feeling. I know that I will be with Jesus after this brief stay on earth, and my heart longs to see her there. My prayers remain with her children and grandchildren for comfort and also to celebrate such a meaningful and important life. I love you, Aunt Carol! --Betsy Ebersole Wilson Biloxi, MS

Carol Little was one of the dearest and most caring women I have ever known. I first met her in 1970 when I went to work at Nottingham Company and she quickly made me feel like part of their family. I know she will be deeply missed by those who loved her dearly, but she is at peace now and reunited with Dan and Charlie and others she loved. My deepest condolences to the entire Little family, especially Beth, Al and Clint. May God Bless You and your family at this sorrowful time.

Carol was such a charming person. She enjoyed the beauty in everyday things like the view from her apartment and colorful flowers, and she had a charming fondness for elephants and chocolate candy. We just "clicked" from the time we met in the 1970s. We shared many happy times together in Georgia and later in Minnesota -- playing Scrabble, laughing at the cat's peregrinations, and just taking pleasure in each other's company. She will be greatly missed. With deepest sympathy to her family, of whom she often spoke with love,
