GWINN, Macon, Sr. Pastor Macon Gwinn, Sr. Celebration of Life Service for Pastor Macon Gwinn Sr., of Atlanta, GA, Saturday, June 9, 2012, 12:00 Noon at Israel Missionary Baptist Church, 2071 Hosea L. Williams Dr. SW Atlanta, Rev. Dr. William Smith, Senior Pastor, Eulogist and Rev. Dr. John Smith, Officiating. Remains in state at 11:00 AM. Family and friends assemble 11:00 AM at the residence. Interment Kennedy Memorial Gardens. He is survived by wife, Mrs. Betty Davis- Gwinn; children, Macon Gwinn, Jr., Michell Gwinn-Young (Stanley), Rev. Philip Gwinn, Pastor Gary Gwinn (Karen), Pastor Jacquelyn Gwinn- Villaroel (David) and Victoria Gwinn; grandchildren, Premiah Gwinn, Nathaniel Young, Brandon Young, Christian Villaroel and Brianna Gwinn; a host of god children, other relatives and friends. My name is Willie Anthony Leak, and I have just come across the very sad news that Rev Gwinn passed in 2012. I was thinking about his family, and decided to look up his name. I attended the church he pastor at several times back in 1987, and "88. I started working at Riches department store in South DeKalb Mall in "87 were I first meet him, and his daughter; who also worked there, and they always showed me love. My deepest condolences to all the family members, and God's continual uplifting to you.

Reverend Gwinn was my Pastor a few years back, he was a great man and I learned a lot from him and his wife during my years of being a member at his church. He was a wise and kind man. He will be missed, prayers goes out to the family during this time. But he and his wife Mrs. Betty Gwinn raise very strong children. I thank you for being a great mentor.

Rev. Gwinn was my buddy, my friend, my family. All the Gwinns are family to me. Their father was the best person i have ever known and i still think about him and wish God had let us keep him longer. i will always remember his humor and that great barbecue he used to make!!!! Miss you, Macon!!!

Daddy, their are no words to describe the kind of man you are and were to me. their is no one who can replace you in my heart and everything you have taught me and the unconditional love you have shown to me no matter what the situation was. Their is not a single day that goes by that I don't think about you or look at your picture on my wall. I miss you so much, but I know that God said it was time for you to go because your work down here was finished. You, Daddy were a true servant of God to the very end! What can I say about a man that loved me in spite of me...I am so blessed to have a great father. Yes I used the present tense because he still lives within me. I am so honored to be able to celebrate his life and to just remember how he touched so many lives. A small man in statute but a giant in his ability to love and treat people right no matter what; and he knew how to be a REAL MAN and take care of his family. I am struggling to deal with you not physically being here with me daddy, but just to know that you see me and still get who I am and I can feel your hands guiding me along the way gives me comfort. Daddy as I continue to live and strive in this life I want to make sure that I honor your name and that I make every effort to make you proud of me. We have a special bond that can never be broken...not even in death! Thanks for loving your Jacquelyn and giving me the ability to carry out what you started and fulfill the mission and the vision. Rev. Macon Gwinn Sr was the best father-in-law a gal could ever ask for and I'm going to miss him dearly!! I've been knowing Papa Gwinn for as long as I've known my husband Gary, which has been 26 years. I'm so blessed to have known Papa Gwinn on this side of eternity. He was a such a good man.
