Bernyce Kasdin Obituary

Bernyce Kasdin
1/5/1924-4/5/2018

Bernyce Deutsch, born in 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, was fourth child of a blended family of Solomon Deutsch, a widower with children Sarah and Philip, and widow Libby Lewis, mother of Norman. As "baby" of the family, Bernyce received lots of attention.
An excellent student, at sixteen Bernyce was accepted at New York University, but left college after two years to go to work in Manhattan, where she explored art, culture – and world class shopping. In the Depression her father could sustain the family and assisted many neighbors and friends financially.
In 1946 Bernyce married her neighbor Herbert Simakow, and in 1947 Stewart was born. The marriage, however, did not last. She met Jack Feldman and married in 1955, moving to Miami Beach, Florida, where Kenneth Feldman was born in 1956. Jack began a family business, which Bernyce managed and where Stewart worked over the summer. When Jack fell ill and passed away in 1968, the business closed. Bernyce began work with a real estate developer, eventually rising to Vice President of the firm. She also had a short marriage to Hyman Kasdin.
Upon retirement in 1992, Bernyce moved to Auburn to be near Stewart and his family. She enjoyed the area and visits to Lake Tahoe and San Francisco.
Bernyce is survived by her sons Stewart Feldman and Kenneth Feldman (Gail), grandchildren Amber Vodden and Evan Feldman, Scott Feldman and Leah Feldman.
