AUBURN | Mrs. Christina S. DeChick, 91, of Paul Street, Auburn, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013 at Auburn Community Hospital surrounded with her loving family.
Christina was a native of Arbroath, Scotland; the daughter of Andrew and Isabella Glenn Forsyth, a graduate of Arbroath High School, and a WW II British Women's Army veteran. While serving in the British Army, she met the love her love, Frank DeChick, from Auburn.
They married in Great Billings, England on Dec. 23, 1944. Frank predeceased her in April 2009. She was also predeceased by her brother Jack and sisters Isa and Betty.
Surviving Christina are her three loving sons; John (Debbie) DeChick, Edward (Kathy Weldon) DeChick, Ronald (Mary) DeChick, all of Auburn; a brother, Walter Forsyth, of Scotland; grandchildren, Kristen Carnicelli, Jeff DeChick, Marc DeChick, Mike DeChick, Kathleen DeChick-Kelsey, Tim DeChick, Beth DeChick-Smith, Rachel Bearup, Jason DeChick; 17 great grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Daniel (MaryLou) DeChick and Michael DeChick and her special four-legged friend Bailey.
While she was a member of Holy Family Church, she had many church friends, but she especially loved Louise, Linda, Sue and Patty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2012 in Holy Family Church, Auburn with the Rev. Ronald Gaesser as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today, Monday at Farrell's Funeral Service, Inc. 84 South St., Auburn. Memorials may be made to either Holy Family Church or Matthew House.
She will always be remembered as caring, loving Mother and Grandmother.
