Gilbert C. Devlen

MORAVIA | Gilbert C. Devlen, 81, of Moravia, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 in Cortland Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Gil was born March 15, 1933 in Cortland to the late Clarence and Rhoda Westlake Devlen. He was a former resident of Groton and the state of Delaware, and had lived in Moravia the past 20 years. He was an avid hunter for deer and coyotes. He loved his dogs and his family. He was a Korean War veteran, a life member of VFW Post #7127 of Moravia, and the NRA. He had been employed at Welch-Allyn in Skaneateles until his retirement.

He was predeceased by his wife, Anne McKeever Devlen in 2010, and a son, Mark in 2005.

Surviving are three daughters, Sheryl Taylor, of Dagsboro, Del., Kristina Tino, of Carmel, N.Y., and Lea Wharton, of Bethany Beach, Del.; three sisters, Doris Johnson, of Rushville, N.Y., Jean Emeno, of Freeville, N.Y., and Jane Devlen, of Groton, N.Y.; one brother, Charles Devlen, of Caledonia, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Lindsay Taylor, Michael Tino, and Meghan Wharton.

A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
