Sarah (Sallie) A. Devlen, 84, of Groton, passed away on September 26, 2023 at the Groton Community Health Care Center.    She was born May 29, 1939 in Auburn, a daughter of the late Joseph and Nora (Hartnett) Cashin. She was raised in Moravia and was a graduate of Moravia Central School.  Sallie was a career administrative assistant, working for many years at Smith Corona Marchant (SCM), and, later, with the Maguire Family of Dealerships in Ithaca.   She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Groton, and a dedicated member of the Post 800 American Legion Auxiliary, Moravia VFW Post 7127 Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society. She was an avid and successful bowler, and she loved antiquing, gardening, and garage sales.  She led Groton's drive for placement of the American Flag on all the Main Street light poles.   She is survived by her husband, Warner "Bud" Devlen; her sons, Jeremy and Dan Devlen; Jeremy's daughters: Hillary, Kate and Chloe Devlen; Dan's son, BonScot Devlen, and daughter, Lily Ann Devlen; and many nieces and nephews.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, September 30 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Groton with interment to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00-6:00 PM on Friday, September 29 at the Shurtleff Funeral Home, 103 Lincoln Avenue, Groton.   Contributions, in lieu of flowers, are graciously directed to the Post 800 American Legion Auxiliary, 307 Main St., Groton, NY 13073, or to the SPCA of Tompkins County, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14840.
