Malcolm Kellogg Obituary

SCIPIO CENTER < Malcolm C. Kellogg, 94, of Levanna Road, Scipio Center, died Thursday evening, Jan. 18, 2007, at his home. Mr. Kellogg was born in Burdett, the son of the late Stephen and Coral Dunham Kellogg, and has resided in Scipio Center for most of his life. Mr. Kellogg was a graduate of Odessa High School and attended Cornell University. He was employed as the director of the Office of Disaster Preparedness for the County of Cayuga, retiring several years ago. He and his late wife, Katherine, also owned and operated the MacKay Farm in Scipio Center, where they raised crops and Holstein cattle. Mr. Kellogg, a lifelong Republican, served the town of Scipio as a member of the town board for six years and supervisor for eight years. He later served on the Cayuga County Legislature representing the residents of the towns of Fleming and Scipio in the original legislative District 11. He was a 60-year member of Cayuga Lodge No. 221 F&AM of Scipio Center, Dairymen"s League, Holstein Friesian Association, Cayuga County Extension Service, Sherwood Grange and the Cayuga County Farm Bureau. Mr. Kellogg enjoyed the out of doors and had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and golfing. Surviving are two daughters, Barbara G. Carter and her husband, Richard, of Scipio Center, and Kathleen K. Sheils and her husband, Ernest, of Genoa; one son, Kenneth L. Kellogg and his wife, Trinh, of Port Byron; friend, Jane Robinson, of Scipio Center; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. His wife, Katherine Mills Kellogg, who died in 1979; his son, Malcolm Bruce Kellogg, who died in 1991; and two daughters, Jacqueline Wise, who died in 1992 and Maxine Sherman, who died in 2004, predeceased Mr. Kellogg. Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Ledyard, in the spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021; or to the charity of one"s choice, in memory of Mr. Kellogg.
