Peter F. Falcone, 88, of State Street Road, Throop, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning July 19, 2014 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Nov. 8, 1925 in Pittston, Penn., the son of the late Anthony and Angelina Capitano Falcone and had been an area resident for most of his life. Pete was a World War II army veteran having served overseas in Germany for the 353rd Infantry 89th Division. Prior to his retirement, Peter had been employed for more than 28 years by the former New Process Gear in Syracuse. He was also a member of their U.A.W. Union for many years. Pete also enjoyed the many trips with his wife and family to the local casino's and even a stop or two at O.T.B. Peter was most happy the times spent with his family and will be sadly missed by all of them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Philomena DeBenedetto Falcone of Throop, three children, two daughters, Claudia (John) Carnicelli, Nancy (William) Maffei all of Auburn, a son Richard Falcone of Myrtle Beach,S.C., a sister Nancy Ciampi of Auburn, two brothers Anthony Falcone of Ohio, Angelo (Carol) Falcone of Auburn, nine grandchildren, Carrie (Michael) Calarco, Sara Stoker, Michael (Yanira) Stoker, Samuel Carnicelli, Dominick Carnicelli, Leanna Maffei, Leslie (Erik) Tinti, Emily Maffei, Lucas Maffei, two great-grandsons Michael and Angelo Calarco, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins .
In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by two brothers Charles and Joseph Falcone.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the family Wednesday for a calling hour from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St., Auburn, with a Mass of Christian of Burial to follow Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Church. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105, or Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, 750 East Adams St., Syracuse, NY 13210-2375.
