JoAnn Bobenmoyer Obituary

Funeral services for JoAnn A. Bobenmoyer, 79, were conducted by Pastor Steve Daiker and Pastor Lori Shannon on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers were Tom Nielsen, Tom Garber, John Nissen, Lee Nielsen, Gary Wegner, and Don Mack. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.
JoAnn Arlene Bobenmoyer, the daughter of Charles H. and Lula Williams Hodges, was born Aug. 21, 1933, in Logan and died Oct. 17, 2012, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 26 days.
JoAnn was baptized at the First Christian Church in Audubon, and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. She attended rural schools near Logan, through the eighth grade. She then attended Logan High School through the eleventh grade before moving to Audubon, where she graduated with the Audubon High School Class of 1952. She then was employed with Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator for several years.
She was united in marriage to Roland Speas at the First Christian Church in Audubon. Two children: Sheila and Sharon were born to this union. They moved to California while Roland was serving in the United States Air Force and then moved to Hamlin, after he was honorably discharged. Roland died in 1960.
On March 30, 1963, she was united in marriage to James Bobenmoyer at the First Christian Church in Audubon. One son, Jeff was born to this union. She was employed for Garst Seed Company in Coon Rapids, where she sorted seed corn for over 27 years until she retired.
JoAnn was a member of the Ross Calvary United Methodist Church in Ross. She was a member of the Audubon County Traveler's Club and a member of a card club in Audubon. She enjoyed anything that involved arts and crafts, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her first husband Roland Speas; her parents; her brothers and sister: Clinton and wife Mina Hodges; Pauline Stentz; Leo Hodges; and Earnest Hodges.
Survivors include her husband James E. Bobenmoyer of Ross; her children: Sheila and husband John Whitson of Sioux City; Sharon and husband Merle Starman of State Center; Jeff and wife Rachelle Bobenmoyer of New Hampton; her step-daughters: Corene and husband Joe Crouse of Archer City, Texas; Leslie and husband Gary Berlinger of Georgetown, Ohio; her grandchildren; her greatgrandchildren; her sisters: Jean and husband Charles Griffith of Audubon; Elaine Thompson of Woodbine; Marie and husband Harold Dickinson of Logan; Doris Ramsey of Phoenix, Ariz.; her sisters-in-law: Ardis Hodges of Logan; Eleanor Hodges of Fort Collins, Colo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
